Wright: "De La Hoya Will Beat Mayweather"

Holding a major stake in the contest, middleweight Winky Wright, one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the sport, tells Robert Morales of the LA Daily News that Oscar De La Hoya will beat Floyd Mayweather, Jr. when the two fighters collide on May 5, 2007. [details]

Can't hate Winky for that opinion. A man that can easily Make 135lbs thats fighting at 154lbs is crazy. If Floyd isnt on his A game that night it could be the first time his face meets the canvas. This fight is a toss up for me and I really dont care who wins it. I just want to see the fight.

i really can't wait for this fight in May... hopefully the sport really markets this correctly as it has the possibility to help bring boxing back towards the lime-light...

Yeah and its sad how Floyd never has and never will get any credit for that. What he's doing by fighting these much bigger guys is special but no one even cares about it. If it was someone else then thats all people would talk about

Floyd is always ready, and Roger will be there to train him. Strength and power won't mean nothing if Oscar can't land. Oscar doesn't have Floyd's footspeed. Floyd will have to dig deep if Mayweather Sr really knows how to defeat his son.

I disagree with you Mr. Wright.

Unlike other Mayweather opponents, Oscar knows how to cut off the ring. If he cuts of the ring effectively that night, Floyd is in trouble.
