Bute has an exceptional offence, and by that I mean his shot to the body, but he proved he can aim for the chin very well lately. I'm a fan of his but truth be told I'm not certain he'll be able to reign over the SMW division ( if they even want to go there and take on better opponents ).

As I see it, he hasn't really been tested in a long time. In the first Andrade fight, Bute made it harder for himself by not managing the fight well, dude gassed out. After that he came back as a much more pragmatic boxer, man with a plan, dropped the flurries and went for the kill. Thing is, his opposition wasn't able to ruin that plan for him yet. For example, I dislike Froch's style, but he's smart in the ring, he's one of the top SMW's that can put Bute in a difficult spot. When I see Bute in that spot and I see him still coming out the winner, to me he'll be a certainty, not only great potential.

The only decent fighter Froch has KO'd is a punch drunk Taylor, before that Mcgee 6years ago lol Froch KO Johnson, right.
Do you see Froch's name in my sig? No, I'm not a fan of his I think he is overrated, I even bet most of my points on ward beating him.

Froch looked like **** against glen, i don't watch him so to me he looked weight drained. Froch started slow as hell he rarely landed anything for the first few rounds when he finally did land he was hurting glen, glen pretty much tired himself out thus showing his age. A few years ago that fight would been much closer.

I just don't want Bute fans to act as if it is some great achievement if bute kos an old johnson.

        @Cutthroat

You can only beat what's in front of you. After all, Glen Johnson is taking the challenge Kessler and Pavlik weren’t willing to take.

A match between Bute and the winner of the Super-Six tournament, would make you rate Bute as number 1 on his division ?

He's one of my favorite fighter simply because he fights out of my hometown. He also seems to be an all around nice guy.

But on the other hand i am also aware that he was fed a lot of lower level opponnents, he was handled with care, like a lot of the top fighters in the sport today.

I'm still mad at the Andrade thing, he should have lost that fight.

Definitely looking forward to his bout with Johnson even though i think it won't be a pretty fight.

i still dont think a win vs johnson and win over the winner of supersix will put him to the top, i think hed still need a couple more "super fight" wins after that (that is if he wins vs. any of them?), though at the same time if he steps it up and even loses but puts on a great show and puts forth a tough fight i will look at him as a higher elite then he is now.

If you mean p4p then ofcourse it would not but it would mean he is the best smw without question.

^Indeed. It would be hilarious, if someone won't consider Bute the best super middleweight, if he wins against Glen Johnson and the winner of super six tournament.

so who are we saying is the best SMW at the moment then? Or is that decided Dec 17th?

Ideally I'd love to see Froch vs Bute in Nottingham at the City Ground as a homecoming fight for Froch, should he beat Ward.

If Bute beats Johnson and goes on to fight the winner of the super 6 he deserves credit for being bold enough to finally make the move, although it would be about time he put some substance to his resume. Secondly if he did beat either Froch or Ward it'd be mighty impressive, but it'd be a crowning glory on what was previously a cushy resume of title defences.

I give Bute his dues though he looks exciting when fighting these lesser oponents, and his body shots are second to none.

It'll be interesting to see where he goes from here, a unification fight is long over due, I suppose his chance of unifcation has been hampered over the past couple of years with 2 of the belts tied up in the super6
