If this ends up being true . You are the one looking a prat on this thread. 23 or not he is a World Champion not somebody on the way up you can't have it both ways.
Well Khan wants to be big in the States so vacating to fight Zab, JMM or Hatton is a better move to increase his stock. Fighting a bigger name will lead to bigger fights in the future.

Calzaghe did speak out of wanting bigger opponents though, and cheap Warren sometimes got him fights with guys whom had just lost the belt to save on sanctioning fees. Calzaghe had to really press for the Kessler fight, he wanted it, Warren didn't.

Personally I think Amir Khan is being well managed in terms of the quality of who he's fighting at this stage of his career. I'd much rather him have won real titles though (ie English, British, European then think about a genuine world title and not just the weakest alphabelt holder).

However, this is the main problem for me. If Amir was to go down the traditional and correct route as mentioned above I'd have a lot more respect for him to be honest (although I do appreciate his boxing skills and talent). Plus the ridiculous decision to put him on PPV at this stage of his career has been a big mistake in my view.
Completely agree on all of this. I mean the kid is 23, it's mad in some ways the exposure the Olympics gets you. Can be good and bad. I think he's being handled relatively well to be honest. I mean how many 22 year old whom not long came off a devastating defeat, go in with a talented legend like MAB? OK he was past it, but still very talented, experienced and savvy for a 22 year old hopeful to go in with. People exaggerate, the guys 23, has won a belt, defended it devastatingly, and wants huge fights. You can make more of an argument for him rushing it in some ways.

Lets throw him in there with fighters in their prime!

Khan's 23. He's got a few years before he hits his prime. Let him and Roach work on his flaws first, so when he blossoms he becomes a great fighter.

I hear today, Khan may drop his title to go after a big fight rather than Maidana, i can see the sense of it, I mean other than a few thousand people on the internet, who the hell nows marcos maidana?

He is all risk and 0 reward.

I understand that Amir is young and developing but he has over twenty bouts and is a world champion(titlist). He should at this point take any challengers in my opinion.

The same was true with Joe Calzaghe . I have no faith that we will ever see Khan in a competitive fight. He bypassed British and Commonwealth honours on the way up,avoided a rematch with Prescott then took on a school teacher. Barrera was a step up in class but he was old small and shot and the fight should have been stopped in the first round because of the cut and declared a non contest but for some mysterious reason the fight was allowed to continue until a points win could be secured then stopped on cuts.Kotelnik is a very solid journeyman but not a great champion and Khan did well with his hit and move tactics. This was Khan's toughest match up to date . Salita was mandatory but lets face it was a bum with a padded record. I can see Warren just bringing out bum after bum for easy paydays with no intention of ever letting Khan getting into a competitive fight. This is not a criticism of Khan more so of Frank Warren . Why should he take risks when there is a gullible public happy to support him fighting bums but as a fight fan it holds no interest for me. I think Khan has potential and is pretty good but until he fights a good fighter it is impossible to see just how good he really is.When do you see him ever fighting a decent fighter if ever and getting a competitive match up?
How long before you can spell 'decent' correctly?

As others have stated, Khan is only 23 and has years ahead of him. He doesn't need to rush. Salita was a mandatory and it's not like all of his fights have been padded, a few decent names here and there. Look at Naseem Hamed's, Froch's, Witter's, Hatton's and Calzaghe's records after they'd been in the professional game for only 4 years of after 23 fights - Khan's record is good in comparison (Barrera*, Kotelnik, Salita, Earl, Limond, ***an). Next up is either Maidana or Hatton, Witter or Marquez (in which case he'll have to relinquish his WBA strap, but gets more $ in doing so). He'll be in the top 10 p4p within 2 years mate

Good post again, it's funny though.

All the good arguments are for Khan, and all the ****ty, flaming ones are against.
