With Frank Warren as Khan's manager it is difficult to see Amir Khan ever taking on anyone dangerous. Hatton had to part company with Warren before he stepped up the opposition. The same was true with Joe Calzaghe . I have no faith that we will ever see Khan in a competitive fight. He bypassed British and Commonwealth honours on the way up,avoided a rematch with Prescott then took on a school teacher. Barrera was a step up in class but he was old small and shot and the fight should have been stopped in the first round because of the cut and declared a non contest but for some mysterious reason the fight was allowed to continue until a points win could be secured then stopped on cuts.Kotelnik is a very solid journeyman but not a great champion and Khan did well with his hit and move tactics. This was Khan's toughest match up to date . Salita was mandatory but lets face it was a bum with a padded record. I can see Warren just bringing out bum after bum for easy paydays with no intention of ever letting Khan getting into a competitive fight. This is not a criticism of Khan more so of Frank Warren . Why should he take risks when there is a gullible public happy to support him fighting bums but as a fight fan it holds no interest for me. I think Khan has potential and is pretty good but until he fights a good fighter it is impossible to see just how good he really is.When do you see him ever fighting a decent fighter if ever and getting a competitive match up?

Actually Calzaghe did the opposite. When he left Frank Warren he had one fight.. against Roy Jones Jr rather than taking the option that reportedly Warren wanted was a fight with Pavlik. Also with Hatton, Warren did manage to get him the fight with Tzsyu.
Personally I think Amir Khan is being well managed in terms of the quality of who he's fighting at this stage of his career. I'd much rather him have won real titles though (ie English, British, European then think about a genuine world title and not just the weakest alphabelt holder).
However, this is the main problem for me. If Amir was to go down the traditional and correct route as mentioned above I'd have a lot more respect for him to be honest (although I do appreciate his boxing skills and talent). Plus the ridiculous decision to put him on PPV at this stage of his career has been a big mistake in my view.

Khan is moving along OK in my opinion. He's only 23, and I think he's 3 or 4 more fights away from a unification match. Its not as if Khan has to cram the big fights in cause he's at the end of his career, he's got years ahead of him yet. People need to be patient, he's a long way from being the complete fighter.

Then, if he wins that, he's gotta go for a top guy like Marquez or Bradley

The funny thing is, If Khan dropped his title, and fought a gauntlet of Maidana, Valero and Margarito, people would be like "he ducked his mandatory, he scared of salita"!!!!
