  • Robert Helenius vs Lamon Brewster

there is rumours (and it's also in Boxrec) that this match-up happens in undercard of Marco Huck-Ola Afolabi 5th December. Card also includes Oleg Platov vs Cengiz Koc. All 4 heavyweights represent Saeurland Event so it looks like that Sauerland is having an eliminator of their own, undercard of Abraham-Taylor they had their other hevies Dettweiler and Oloukun fighting each other. There was also romours of Helenius-Dettweiler at some point

Brewster is quite a leap in opposition for Helenius after 9 pro fights and I'm worried.IF Sauerland doesn't think Brewster as a shot fighter.

    what do you guys think?

This is a big test for Helenius, but Sauerland must have faith in him or they wouldn't put him in with Brewster.

Brewster is done as a top fighter but he is still dangerous, Brewster has been in some excellent fights.

now there are rumours that he would be fighting Taras *****ko first
so first *****ko 7th November and then Brewster 5th December
that can't be right, real sink or swim test

That sounds a bit much. IMO he'd be better off having a longer rest inbetween or even fighting a gimme instead of *****ko. He's still inexperienced, there's no need to rush him.

The fight with *****ko has been confirmed for Nov 7, and Helenius is still scheduled for Dec 5 vs. Brewster.

But if Helenius doesn't win on Nov 7, they'll likely get someone else to fight Brewster on Dec 5, maybe Dettweiler or Pulev.

If Helenius wins both fights, he'll be 11-0 and considered a bona fide heavyweight contender.

I've heard that Helenius-*****ko won't be shown in the UK, which is a shame as I was looking forward to it.

Yes, it's the best matchup on the undercard. Pulev-Olouken is another good one.

Helenius got past stage one in impressive fashion. Brewster can punch but I'm not sure if he has anything left. Helenius should be able to go further, to a world title shot possibly.

One thing most people don't know is that Brewster is and has been under medical suspension in the United States since he lost to Sergey Lyakhovich in 2006. Germany is the only place he can fight til he reapplys for a licence in the U.S. He was under that suspension when he got a title rematch with Klitschko(in spite of the fact Brewster had not fought in a year and lost his last fight). German comissions are not subject to the ABC rules(US commisions). So Brewster might be more on vacation more than reserrecting his boxing career. That may be how the promoter and managers may view it if they take this bout.
