i don't like to talk about eras I didn't live in. Ali was from my era. Ali and Frazier fought to the death. why money? Not really, it was pride. who's the real champ. Back then being HW champ meant something. To judge Ali based on the Spinks fight is saying that Spinks at his best can beat the 1967 Ali. he defended his title 9 times in 3 years in their backyard. He fought everyone who was anyone. Ali was a well school fighter who fought all over the world.

        - - Didn't help Ali when he ducked Wilt that would've have huge international interest, perhaps more than Ali/Frazier 1.

Ali would fight a tiger if the money was right.

More untruths in this TS starter post than you'd suffer through at the DNC.

Nash was very scared for the Rock that night, but I believe Austin had a change of heart as he knew that if he did that, not only would the fight and the money be off the table, but he'd be looking at life in jail, but what a time and rivalry it was. Basketball was not truely an international sport in Wilt's time. Wilt was not a fighter and ran from the proposal. Probably saving his own life. You rumor starter, you. Now Charley Powell was real a fighter; Chis John, Sully Montgomery, Monte Munn, Ray "The Bull" Elson, Julius Long, Ty Fields, Mike "The Giant" White and Anthony Mundine too; and at least Ed "Too Tall" Jones, Lyle Alzado, Howie Long, Alonzo Highsmith, Adam Braidwood, Paul Anderson, Mike Balogun, Otis Sistrunk, Andre Tippett, "Classy" Fred Blassie, Anderson Silva, Paul Gallen, Kendall Gill, Curtis Woodhouse, Art "The Great" Shires, Tom Payne, Craig Wolfley, Frank Gotch, Tony Faeth, Roy Bedwell, Andre "The Giant" Roussimoff, William "Refrigerator" Perry, Rick Ferrell, Tex Hammer, Tom Zbikowi, Jack Torrance, Al Spohrer, Duke Slater, Ed (Oklahoma city) Williams, Connor McGregor, Ray Richards, Tiny Powell, George Trafton, LaVeon Bell, Robert (Gorilla Monsoon) Marella, Frank Bialowas, Jim Taylor, John Clark, Eddie Blake, Paul Bonson, Seth Mitchell, Adam Fogerty, Solomon Haumono, Mark Hunt, John Hopoate, Freddie Flintoff, L.C. Greenwood, Rusty Hughes, Conrad Dobler, Jevon Langford, Roy Young, Leif Larsen, Leon McKenzie, Al Nesser, Wayne Munn, Sonny Bill Williams, Ray Nitschke, Willis Meehan, George Linberger, Fred Nesser, Roy Lumpkin, Sean Jegen, Jack Youngblood, Liam Messam, Earl Nolan, Ted Reiter, Jeremy Scruggs, Adrian White, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, Ray Richards, Marc Gastineau, Crawford Grimsley, Potsy Jones, John Matuszak, (Idaho) Jimmy Ellis, Kaspars Kambala, Eddie Hall, Bart Gunn, Bill Johnstone, Marselles Brown and their like, as well as a great slew of Kickboxers, Muay Thai and MMA fighters put in some hard work and tried to be fighters. That's admirable.
Wilt Chamberlain (and Jim Brown, another delusional sports legend) didn't come close to having what it takes to do that, and would fold up like hot laundry against Ali or anyone Ali EVER fought, without exception.

                How INSULTING!
Do the deed or shut up...I say. That's why they build rings.

Next you'll have us believe that Marvin Hagler ducked Sylvester Stallone back in the late 70's.
                Snap out of it!!!! Lol
