Blasted out Michael Spink's inside 1 round, had two back to back wars with Razor Ruddock one of the most fearsome punches of the 90's, completely shut out Tony Tucker.
It is a fairy-tale that Tyson would disappear when faced with resistance.
Alex Stewart gave Evander Holyfield a TWO tough fights, but he was completely and utterly obliterated by Mike Tyson.
Tyson did not just disappear vs Buster Douglas, and he did dig deep in that fight producing a vicious knock down in the later rounds.
BKM, go and practice some grappling you weasel.
If Mike didn't go to jail in 1992 what changes in his career?

Tyson never beat great fighters in their prime. He did not have the ability to dig deep and overcome adversity, and he would have to overcome too much against Evander, Lewis, Bowe and even old Foreman.
His style was too limited and flawed, and he was too limited mentally and physically.Leave a comment:

Mike Tyson can beat anyone at his peak, too lethal 'Too sophisticated'.
He did not just disappear vs Holyfield, and was doing well in the second fight before that kicked off.

I think he was doing that because that was just how he was living his life by the end of the 80s regardless of Douglass. You think the guys around him in '90 were as protective of him as Cus was?Leave a comment:

My question is why would anyone think it was "orchestrated"? Tyson was everyone's cash cow. Anyone involved with him stood to make more money from him beating Douglas than losing. Now had it been Holyfield or Foreman if they could have made that fight there would probably be huge money in a rematch. But Douglas? That makes no sense in my opinion.Leave a comment:

True there is no obvious motivation to protect Douglas - to repeat myself the fighters had two very different looks about them when they rose. If I had been the referee (HBTR) I would have left Douglas to continue and I would have protected Tyson by stopping the fight.Leave a comment:

You must have seen the juxtaposed video that confirms the two counts were delivered at the same pace. --- Whaen Dougles regains his feet at ten he was slumped shouldered but obviously clear headed - when Tyson rose at ten he was confused and off balanced. The counts were almost identical the fighters look quite different once regaining their feet; one was ready to continue the other not.Leave a comment:
