Williams' legacy supports the arguemtns of Liston and Ali's greatness. He's the only fighter that those two fought whom people feel would succeed in other eras, especially more modern ones. I don't dispute that he was quite good, and a hard puncher. But his ability is often exaggerated.
Correct. Also, I think that Moore doesn't get the credit he deserves as a HW because he lost to Marciano. So he's not counted as a "real" heavyweight but a blown up light heavyweight. But light heavyweight or not, he beat a lot of top tier heavies. Even beating the 6'3 200+ pound Nino Valdez immediately prior to facing Rocky.

I think Williams gets made into an ultimate destroyer simply because he lost to Liston who then lost to Ali and because Ali looked so spectacular beating a shell of Cleveland Williams.
