  • Did Schmelling take a dive vs Joe Lois 2?

Sure seemed like he decided not to throw back at all.

Can you be a little more concise? Was there backlash from the crowd? Had the odds changed dramatically leading up to the fight? Did the commission investigate claims of a fix? Did the feds investigate? Are you just trolling?

How do? Schmeling was probing with his left looking for an opening for his right just like the first fight. He was parrying punches and using head feints to try and get Louis to make a mistake. Louis just struck first and actually trained this time. There was no controversy whatsoever.

All quite meaningless given what we can clearly see.

              Possibly.

But I've thought that maybe given that Schmelling's manager was ***ish and that he steadfastly refused to join the **** party despite great pressure from them, that maybe he wanted to lose as an anti-**** or anti-Hitler statement?

What are you seeing exactly? The first rounds from both fights look very similar, except Louis nails Max early. Just curious, but how many people do you think take dives and are sent to the hospital anyway with broken bones and hemmoraging muscles?

I think Schmeling got mugged. Louis was a demon that night; Schmeling should have gotten his shot back in '37 against Braddock. That's when he got screwed. My personal rant on the topic: Braddock-Schmeling the Fight that Never Was

Can't see any currency in Schmeling tanking that fight, way too much to gain, so much to lose.
