Buddy, I'm not reading all of your copy/paste posts from the other forum. They are irrelevant. Langford deserved a title shot with Jack, end of story. All that other he said/she said nonsense is a distraction and deflection. You're getting lost in the weeds with weights, dates, and more static noise to deflect from the topic at hand. Johnson could have and should have given title defenses to Langford, Jeanette, and McVey. He did not. Even for the farcical contracts he allegedly signed, he had many other opportunities to fight them yet didn't. This is a matter of record. The fighters in questions have all accused him of drawing the color line, he himself said he would draw the color line, I've posted his exact quote on here several times. You are chasing your own tail and you look ridiculous.

I do not recall saying Burns seconds crawled under the ring to stop the fight. Show me that post so I can provide context if I did say it.

Facts are Johnson was offered his price on several occasions and always found a way out.

Fact: he said he would draw the color line as champion and did just that. Fought a cherry pick that went wrong for a $1,000 while turning down $20K from Jeanette.

This is a good post. The questions that you are alluding to are exactly the questions that need to be answered. It doesn't seem your hate for Johnson, apparently due to his assaults on women, have made you biased in your inquiry here. I just wish you could always post so reasonably, especially when the topic is one William Harrison.


Anyway, I think it's only slightly more complicated than you have it. The sentiment at the time the fight was to be made was that it wouldn't have any barriers because no barriers were put up when the fight was going to be done by Madison Square Garden. This article helps explain it all pretty well. After there was no objection to Billy Gibson making the fight, of course promoters and fighters believed there was no issue.

Notice especially what it says about the commission. It seems to me they only stepped in when Gibson lost the fight to the McMahons.
