I know... And Golota was never going to be great regardless IMO.

You described him as "solid and talented" in a previous post.

So, besides his lack of brain, what is the reason of your certainty about him never becoming a great? Not even if his head worked OK? Just curious.

Golota was indeed solid and talented and if he had been in...oh lets say for the sake of argument....Rocky Marciano mode for his career, in terms of taking it seriously, mind straight: He might have been an excellent fighter. But that does not make one great. Golota had decent orthodox fundamentals, a jab that was very good, decent power, etc. But nothing that would make him stand out against a great fighter.

Golota being his own worse enemy has a tendency to make it appear a certain way...I think we all do this lol. I am guilty as anyone... I looked at Ike Iebuchi like I used to look at the dry aged beef hanging in Lobell's butcher shop window as a kid lol. My dad and I would walk our dog, and imagine how damn good those steaks were! We didn't shop at Lobel's as it was way past our price range lol...

With Iebuchi it was similar in that I would say to myself, "here is the perfect sized heavy, strong as an oxe, determined, great work rate as intense as Holyfield, good power... and then I could see a version of Ike that stayed on the rails, knocking them all down!

But would Ike have been so great? and would a Lobel's dry aged Shell Steak really have been so much better than our own neighborhood butcher? (all meat tasted better back then).

I see it more objectively with Golota than Iebuchi... It took me a while to realize that Ike probably at his best, was not really great. Both guys had good size, imo the perfect size for a heavy, and were skilled. Both guys could look exceptional, but against what competition? Bowe was himself mecurial as a fighter, and most would say those were Andrew's best fights. Tua was a one dimensional fighter... I believe that was Ike's best win.

Finally, lets compare Golota to Oliver McCall. If Mccall had stayed on the rails, had the mind to stay together... Well, Oliver had extreme power and aggression. He had speed and strength... I might put him above both these other two as a fighter with the potential to even be great.

the reason for this is that as good as Golota and Eebuchi were, they were not exceptional in any category I can think of. Mccall by comparison had exceptional power and strength.

Golota would last a few rounds before he crumbled mentally. He could be doing well but once George started landing good shots he'd find a way out. Foreman by TKO.

Foreman would attach Golata from the opening bell. Since he could not move well George would have backed him against the ropes and unloaded. I don’t think prime circa 1974 Foreman would need more than 1-2 rounds.
