By the time this starts filming, Jamie Foxx will be older than Mike Tyson is now. Perfect for depicting a teenager's rise to the top and then the slow transformation to the most popular wife-beating sex offender in America.

Biographies so close to the actual history are never good. The Ali movie with Will Smith was just horrible to watch with such great pains taken to replicate key fights punch by punch. They may be good for the younger crowd where anything learned about Ali is a revelation. For those who lived the era its hard to watch.

No canniballistic rapist or a closeted homosexual is a better man than me. If you disagree, then my posts about Tython have had a far more severe effect on you than I ever could have imagined.

Mike Tyson's popularity is riding high right now because of positive reasons.
He got to his level of fame because of extreme violence, **** cases and tons of other crimes, de****able behavior on and off for decades.

Even with his boxing popularity, a very large percentage of viewers weren't watching him fight for his technique and skills, they simply wanted to see him severely beat and humiliate overmatched opponents.

There's no positive reasons for his fame. Yes, even today. "Memes" are what keeping him in the spotlight. Like this nonsense:

humiliating himself and the sport for a cheap buck. Catering to young fools with that podcast. I bet you think he's an 'OG gangsta' with the way he talks and smokes weed.

Such as him getting into great shape in his 50s, looking skilled and explosive on the boxing mitts, and expressing interest in doing a boxing exhibition for charity.
Well cong**** to Mike Tyson for having people with an IQ below 80 be impressed by a couple of videos of a middle aged former fighter who hasn't quit a fight for 15 years, concoct edited videos trying to tease a 'comeback' as if he has a 1% shot against the #500 ranked HW in the world. Yeah that's why he's 'popular and respected' today.

Their have been so many articles with headlines that Tyson was coming out of retirement. Making it sound at face value he was making an actual comeback. Not the case. He is looking to have a exhibition for charity. I for one have zero interest.

I can understand your 'zero interest' but give credit where credit is do, that was great (maybe just good) promo work.

Tyson hooked us, prepping us for the Jamie Foxx announcement; it was nicely done.

I hope they avoid showing any ring action. The worst part of any boxing movie (to a real fight fan) are the boxing scenes.

IMO the best prize fight film I have seen is Ving Rhames in Don King, Only in America. It showed us/told us more about the world of boxing then the five Rocky films combined.

Also, no CGI, I would rather they used multiple actors to play the different aged 'Tyson(s)" - much like the Bob Dylan film did.

Those that lived though the story have no need to have it dramatically portrayed on film. Isn’t the “comeback” announcement too far removed from the films potential release date? If it were planned they would be better coincide with one another?

Maybe, or maybe the "comeback" announcement was placed to enhance the film' pre-production announcement.

Hollywood films often make a big deal about pending productions before the actual filming begins.

To use the classic example, David O'Selznick spent an entire year searching for Scarlett O'Hara, and then made damn sure everyone thought it was a big deal.

They (the producers) are probably still searching for backing and product placements, and getting Foxx's name out there will help bring in more of both.

Maybe! Then again maybe the two aren't even connected.

There is no actor who can play Tyson in a movie and not look like a caricature.

And the reason for that is because Mike Tyson himself has always been like a real life cartoon character.

So the more accurate the portrayal is on the screen(and no movie today would show a ****-scene), the more of a joke it becomes.

It's a no-win. A Tython movie will never be good.

Here you go again trying to convince everyone that people only like him because of OG gangsta talk, weed, and because they have a low IQ. You keep trying to force that narrative but it's simply not true, it looks desperate.

The fact is that Joe Rogan is raving about the old man's skills on his podcast. And MMAers like Henry Cejudo and Francis Ngannou are seeking him out to learn what they can from him.

Having Joe Rogan talk highly of Tyson is nothing to write home about. Rogan as a ringside commentator is fun. His podcast where he has to ad lib longer term is impossible to listen to. I listened to him talk about Joe Louis and you realize how lame his boxing knowledge in actuality is.
