Jorge Paez is still among my all time favorite boxers. I credit the 15th round of the Calvin Grove fight for making me a hardcore fan for life.

Chris Byrd. Big fan of him from his amateur days. Nothing made me happier than seeing him become a HW title holder. I still wish he had turned pro at 168 & moved up. I seriously think he coulda become a 4 weight division champ & been a lock for the HOF.

Joseph Kiwanuka. Long armed cat who was a mainstay on cable boxing back in the day. Had a nice run for a couple years.

Kiwanuka was a good fighter. Enjoyed watching him as well. Some him fight live at Foxwoods casino.

A tribute to two great warriors, who already have fell into oblivion.
In my opinion, this flyweight combat was the Fight of the Year 2011.
Panamanian favorite Luis Concepcion (22-1, 17 KOs) vs Mexican Hernan “Mini-Tyson” Marquez (29-2; 22 KOs) at the Arena Roberto Duran, Panama City.

Marlon Thomas and Kady King. Both guys used to come down and work with me/help me when I was young, they were out of Kronk. Kady came up short fighting for the title against Darius Michelshevski for the title. Marlon got called for a fight against Vernon Forest on short notice. It turned in to a 12 rounder, I believe at the time Marlon had not even fought a 10 rounder yet. He came up on the short end of this one. Great guys, both of 'em.

I used to see Joseph Kwuinuka(spelling?) down at Galaxy. Super nice guy…….Rockin'

Nice list. Growing up, a buddy of mine was a huge El Maromero fan and I liked Tony Lopez. Both were on TV a decent amount and my buddy would sometimes style his hair like Paez. When they met up in the ring, we had some wager going on and it was felt good to have my fighter won for once. Paez was a character and he was a crafty, gutsy scrapper.

Always respected Byrd because he seemed like a decent dude and he showed some real skills always taking on bigger guys.

I remember Kiwanuka (I think I still remember how to pronounce his name too) and him being on TV but those were mostly losing efforts as I recall. There was another Ugandan cat named Justin Juuko that I used to watch on TV, he fought Floyd, Chico, Famoso Hernandez and Michael Gonzalez. I think he lost to all of them too but he was game....
