- -You didn't have a regular Tv?
I got 2 stacked like a pyramid with an antique toy tin replica of an ol'timey cash register topping of the pyramid.
They rest in the corner of the living room atop a square coffee table pretty as the art I have hanging around them as anolog relics of the past. I never replaced them cause I was barely watching tv by then, so now the whole unit is a work of art.Comment

Boxing WAS lineal champions.
The more power the boxing orgs got, the messier the sport got.
I can’t actually blame the orgs – hey, they found an easy way to make money (who wouldn’t?) – but the later generation boxing journalists, who uncritically gave the orgs credibility.
That’s really BAD journalism.
The “big four” have succeeded in turning boxing followers into marionettes.
But, yes, if you don’t want to play their game, there are other sports. So why stick to one that nowadays has more champions than challengers …Comment

Great point about the journalists!!! Back before the internet the magazines(THE RING,KO, ect)refused to name the WBO and it took a long time before they were recognized. I have spoken about this before I think the BWAA should make a rule to refuse to name ANY of the alpha bit boys and just go by rankings. They could use THE RING or Trans and only use the word "champs" for guys who have earned it by unifi or any matchup that is #1 v #2. Boxing would be ALOT BETTER off. Nice post.
I keep my own counsel with regards to boxing using rankings sometimes as a reference point, ie boxrec p4p #1 is Canelo with Manny as #10.Comment

My point about the BWAA is not about them to start ranking, but to make it a point to NEVER name ANY of the alpha bit boys. As far as THE RING or Trans there rankings are in the ballpark, but I don't agree with ALL there decisions. Boxrec rankings are a complete joke as a computer cant rank fighters and their rankings prove that(Inoue not even listed in top 19 PFP). The BWAA is just a group of writers with SOME of them being pretty good judges of talent but not all.Comment

But we soon learned, Mr. Bob Lee had another agenda …
It's funny how the boxing world works. A from the start lying and dubious organization, gets worldwide acceptance in just a few years.Last edited by Ben Bolt; 09-11-2019, 05:16 PM.Comment

I remember when IBF popped up, and that The Ring and the KO mag actually welcomed it (though a bit su****ious), because IBF:s “promises and intentions” was to clear up the mess WBA and WBC had created.

Unless such recognition comes along with getting rid of one or more of the WBC, WBA, IBF, and WBO.Comment

That just the tip of that iceberg.
Why ain't they got their own rankings you ask?
Ans: they need help to organize their once a year drunken glee club.
Now I do know at least one, Benny Henderson as a salt of the earth guy and fair in what he reports, but not exactly a go to expert and I doubt his was one of the pro Money votes.Comment

- -Didn't they vote Moneyfraud fighter of the year after running from Manny for 6 yr out of the ring and then 12 rds in the ring that was such a farce it generated $200 mil in lawsuits?

Repeating lies won't make them true. It was Pacquiao who ran in 2009, from Floyd AND from stricter drug testing.Comment
