Ken Norton the most genetically gifted boxer ever?

6'3", 212 lbs had this physique despite him saying he never actually used weights.

Not sure boxing gets this type of natural athlete anymore?

Damn! what a physique. Ken was all about using that muscle lol. Actually Weaver also had quite a physique as well, little Hercules!

many athletes with the kind of natural talent and strength of a "Norton" go into other sports, because being the heavyweight champ of an alphabet corp does not sound as appealing as being the champ of the world.

      Agreed.

Norton is built like a prototypical NFL wide receiver. In the 70s though NFL players were making peanuts and often had other jobs in the off-season.

I've always hated when people talk about athletes that "could be boxers" because I think there's a certain instinct that a fighter get instilled with at an early age. But, I think Ken sort of had both. He was definitely one of the most athletic boxers ever. The guy probably would have done well in any number of sports. His boxing was crude, like a guy who was feeling his way through fights. But, that instinct was strong and overcame lack of technical refinement. He had that psychology and was a fighter on a primal level. Look at him feint and mentally read Ali as he finds openings.

Mike Weaver was built like the proverbial brick outhouse.

And says he didn't lift weights in his prime, just squats and sit ups and 500 pushups a day. Along with running.

Norton was def lifting. And it didn't do him any good. At 205 he looked his best, at 220 he was sluggish and easier to hit. Even at 205 he looked like he was already bulking, just by the shape of his muscles. Norton in the 40s and 50s with no weights and only boxing probably sits just under 200 but lean and ripped.

evidence that using steroids (or any PEDs) isn't as simple as sticking a needle in your ass.

I bet he paid through the nose, too. Someone really took him for a ride.

Too bad they couldn't give him a placebo to cure his balls skrinking up every time he had to face a puncher.

I'd say Greb or Dempsey had the best genetics.

Ken Norton training considered of calisthenics, old school training.

There used to be a video of him on youtube, maybe 2 hours long just training. 'I think it was for the Holmes fight'.

Idk about the most. There are a sh^t ton of genetically gifted mfers in boxing.

Who's really to say whos #1 & who's to say a mfer could be or coulda been PED'd up.
