He has a lot of accomplishments to back up his reputation.
    - -Oh Boy was the first portapotty facility of my memory, the perfect descriptor for Son of Gollum.

Major league sissy needing protection of the suits.

        Yep.

How can you be protected when you fight the best who are around? He even wanted to fight Golovkin but GGG didn't want that smoke.

Exactly. Ward never ducked anyone and has always been fantastic. His accuracy and technical understanding of what he is doing compensates for the raw athletic abilities one sees with guys like Jones and even Mayweather.

Shoulder: In the eighties a sports caster asked Darrell Dawkins about the contact in basketball. Dawkins said, and it was confirmed by other players that basketball was essentially a full contact endevour. It did not always look like that...but some of the injuries, the bumps, (during a pick, etc) and the defensive actions were such that people hit each other's bodies!

Well... Boxing when it was a complete endevour, and when guys fought inside, had head contact, it had elbows, and guys who fought at that range had to know how to defend against those parts of fighting at that range. People get pissed at Ward for fighting well inside, but using all parts of the body is part of that range of fighting and fighters should know how to defend against it. I don't think he is a dirty fighter, I do think he can fight at a range that most guys simply neglect.

just like the announcer and Dawkins, if we could talk to some of the old time guys...I would bet my last nickel they would not think Ward was doing anything out of the ordinary fighting at that range.

            - -Butts, low blows, rabbits and hitting on the break with the ref always needing to pull off the other fighter when he was on top.

Ducked Popkins who was his equal in squalor and willing to come down in weight to meet a fellow sissy. Major league insecurity always whining about TUEs $$$ and p4p status, he was making peanuts to the other boxing stars dollars.

Supposed to have a first rate Imelda Marcos shoe collection though...only in boxing!!!

I forgot which old time great it was but they used to say that he strung fouls together in combination.

              Fritzie Zivic maybe?

Ward was savvy when it came to "veteran tactics" but he was nothing like that.

As usual assertions with nary a hair of proof... Ward never ducked Hopkins. Where did you find that little tidbit? the cats litter box?

Far from wining Ward was always happy to fight and represent in Oakland when most local talent went to Las Vegas. How would you like all the baseball teams to go to New York like they used to? Pennant races with the Brooklyn Dodgers playing the New York Giants, etc. Whats wrong with fighting out of Oakland? It has hotels, stadiums, the airport is a little bit country, but its every bit as accommodating as Las Vegas. Why is it that a fighter has to choose Vegas? There is no advantage to home field right?

Ward gave Oakland a hero, he trained in the East Bay as well.He also lives in the area.

Fritzie Zivic was a boy scout compared to Henry Armstrong.

The four dirtiest fighters of 1930's.
                  1. Armstrong
                  2. Zivic
                  3. Amber's
                  4. Angott

Each one was a gentlemen outside the ring. Lew Jenkins isn't worth talking about. They made him a hyped up Champion
that had no ability, you would have to stand still, sticking your chin out giving him a ko. They made this guy a knockout artist. Amber's gave him the Crown.

When Popkins moved to 175 he knew he was too often physically overmatched, thus the Son of Gollum challenge at 168. Review the Bika fight for the stylistic foul fest.

Popkins was with Golden Boy who rules Cali boxing with an iron fist. Son of Gollum loses his endangered species protection against Popkins.

Btw, lived in Oakland for a couple months and always enjoyed my adventures in Cali.

Shame what the stupes living there are doing to themselves with Cali burning up for how many straight years now ?

Seems half have moved here and destroyed our ancient paradise with the worst environmental and cultural destruction that I have ever witnessed with nothing but more beatings to continue...only in America these days.

yes indeed, Northern Cali is one of the most corrupt urban districts in this country. I still have to operate out of San Francisco and have always hoped Oakland could hold out, as affordable and middle class, at least in some areas outside the hills... The stupes have created a bunch of hedges for their activity: Tenants are encouraged not to talk to Landlords, and vice versa, meanwhile the lawyers get richer and richer., as glorified carrier pigeons. The Stupes of course are the lawyers and in bed with big business which seeks to crush any business owner not engaged in tech. I subsidized a school teacher for many years in my unit in the city and was glad to do it and if I can afford it will do it again.

As far as the beatings? Well people are not encouraged to adapt realistic homesteading practices, and... THERE IS NO REASON TO BE ON THE GRID IN THESE AREAS WITH THE FIRES in Northern Kali!!! Solar is viable, as I sit here now in Wimmemucca Nevada many homesteads are off the grid and suffer no loss of amenity. Our next development project is here and the permit people are ameniable to solar, wind power, composting toilets, etc...all hoesteading practices that leave less of a footpring.

Oh, and water being the big issue here and throughout much of the central valley and Deltas of California, rainwater collectors are big...but I am still learning about how they work.

Again, it is the political players in bed with PG&E, attempting to ring that last bit of profits out before people set up off the grid in rural areas... and it is sad indeed!

Yes Queenbee, Northern Cali has always had a constant influx of individuals who moved here from areas where they had to behave oneself, and decided to abandon all civility when arriving to the area. During the first "dot bomb" the city was purged, but we all knew they would be back...
