    Best finishers continued?

I felt like either this category was subsumed under best offensive fighters, or given short shift...

We are talking guys who can end it when they have the other guy in trouble. I think a lot of these guys were in the Middle divisions. But lets see where it takes us shall we?

Here are some that have been noted:
    Heavyweights

    1. Liston. Classic, measured opponents well for the kill, did not get over eager... One of, if not the best pure finisher in the division. Again...talking finishers here, not the best offensive fighters per se.

    2. Louis. Patient, always cutting the ring off... Could spring a combination from anywhere at any time...

    3. Tyson. Tyson ran up his victories gaining experience but not wasting time and durability. Used Dempsey pivots, and power to run through the gauntlet.

    Middle weights

    1. Jake Lamotta. Never stopped and then had an overdrive gear on top of it.

    2. Ray Robinson. Relentless when he got his man in trouble. did not waste time when a KO could be had.

    3. Gerald mcclellan. Excellent skills, great at driving home that KO punch.

Ok somebeody else take it away!!!!!!!!!!1

What about Marciano? Wrestlers have names for their finishers and Rocky even had a name for his finishing punch, Suzy Q. Left hook wasn't too bad either. Or the other Sugar Ray, Leonard?

Ray Leonard. If he hurt you he finished you immediately.

          - -Dempsey and Big George though older George often held back trying to get the ref to stop a fight because at that point the preacher man was ruling his judgement.

Canelo a very underrated finisher. Must be 1000+ great finishers over the last 120 years.

Better ? is the best finish to a good or great fighter that might include some lighter punchers.

            Some skills

There are many ways to interpret what a finisher that is great does, compared to a fighter who is simply an offensive juggernaught. Im thinking of fighters that measure the opponent, step into position to hit the opponent from another angle (
tyson was a master of this as a young fighter/ from Dempsey)...or fighters that spend an extra few seconds pivoting the guy properly before unloading more efficiently.

Or how about fighters that have a real nose for knowing when a guy is in trouble? Jones had a such a nose...

If Wilfredo Gomez had his man hurt the fight was over, one of the best finishers I've seen.

The RKO and The DDT are the best finishers I've ever seen. They would even work in real life. As for submissions, the sleeper aka Rear Choke or Kokina Clutch. Also the Bulldog Choke and Full Crab aka Boston Crab or Walls of Jericho has now been used in at least one legit fight to finish an opponent as well.

Alexis Arguello well worth a mention.

In modern times, JMM is brilliant, and also, less heralded, Kelly Pavlik was a really good finisher.
