  • If Roy Jones had faced Tyson in 2003 or 2004 who wins?

If after defeating Ruiz Jones decided to stay at HW and face Mike Tyson how would that fight have gone?

    - -In 2003 he KOed Ettienne in the 1st rd. He'd have done the same.

In 04 his knee blew out after using Danny Williams as a heavy bag. Doubt Roy would last that long.

Badly for Roy, that's how it would have gone.

One had no heart, the other no chin. Two front runners with big mouths going at it, would have been fun.

What's the excuse for his loss against the ATG McBride, my Queen?

interesting fight. all depends on the first 3 rounds. by that time, if you made it past 3 with tyson, he virtually unraveled on his own. but Lewis woulda smoked roy.

              - -Same as Ali losing to little toothless Leon save Tyson held no title and it'd been years since anyone thought him the best in the division.

                Lol well put Anthony.

I know Roy's twilight was long, but again, the devil is in those details and people need to look at his fight with Glencoffe Johnson.

Roy was not great at that time but had all the imprints that should have allowed him to coast on the middle of the barrel quality apples so to speak. People need to look at how exhausted Roy was trying to just keep away from a guy who was not really a big puncher, not very large an opponent, just a guy who kept touching him.

So how much better would Roy have to be to deal with someone who was bigger stronger, had enough speed to get in occasionally and hit like Tyson?

You're looking here at 2 very different versions of Roy.

The version of Roy who fought Johnson just a few months after being knocked out by Tarver, would never have been able to have beaten Ruiz.

I realize that truth to an extent but not absolutely... Ali at 25 would have moved straight back from Frazier but still not get caught with the monster left hook... Ali still had the same tendency...

Roy Always has trouble with certain fighters its just some versions are better than others. So yeah an earlier version of Roy beats off Johnson but not Marciano.
