    Yeah, okay mate.

I'm sure Frank held a gun to his head and literally forced him to keep signing contract extensions.

    Please!

I lived through the era. Joe killed himself to make weight to fight in a weak division, and he blew his Showtime contract because he wouldn't fight in the U.S. to raise his profile. He's also on record stating how proud he was of his number of WBO defences.

Don't imply that he wanted the bigger fights earlier but he couldn't get them. No. That's not what happened at all. It was his choice to spend 14 years at SMW with Frank W. The guy was happy to fight guys like Salem, Veit, Mkrtchyan and Ashira etc, even when he was in his 30's.

Saying that he moved up and fought in the U.S. as soon as he could is an absolute joke.
It’s kind of funny that you criticize Calzaghe for not taking matters in his own hands and fight better opposition, while you give jones a pass for not fighting dangerous opponents because of ‘circumstances’ and ‘context’. Why the double standard?

Roy has good opposition on his resume. Toney and Hopkins for example.

      Calzaghe not so much.

Yeah within a set of somewhat narrow specifications... But he would have to pick carefully, like he did with Ruiz.

Still, it's Roy's fault for making the agreement. It's his fault for settling on the ropes. And it's his fault for never rebounding.

It's excessive and unfair to say Roy was exposed. But that's about 75% of what happened.
          Good post. Valid points.

            - -Zimmy, ok you was still in diapers, we got it. Veit was a good Huge fighter undeafeted when Joe got to him.

Joe also faced Brit legend Eubank, undefeated US KO phenom Lacy, and undefeated p4p Kessler.

Shame he never lost since you coulda had a field day with that...NOT!!!

Lol, Im beginning to think there is something to the theory that conspiracy theorists are in the same "gutter." This is pretty much verbatim how I would have answered Batts.

I have discovered that when you look closely it really is revealing. Even guys like McCallum, in his twilight compared to joe's best, its just not the same level of comp.

Holy mother of mercy! With Queeny you think it bacwards: Kessler was a p4p BECAUSE he fought the great anglo talent known as Joseph Calzighe. It would break Queenbee's heart to know that Joe has as much Italian in him!

--- Ring ranked leffy, but since you don't really follow boxing, you can be excused.

Indeed he was. Even p4o ranked here on boxing scene. Incredible how underrated Kessler seems to have become.
