The more people chase the Bowe kool aid (and I will qualify the use of that term) the more quite a bit of it can be attached to the yearnings and opinions of Eddie.
I use the term kool aid because while Bowe was talented and had potential, Eddie thought much more of him than his actual trials and tribulations showed of Bowe. Actually in one of those coincidences, Lou Duva had a similar situation with the "Foul Pole" Golota. Duva thought he had the goods! Golota was also a talent, but both guys could not keep it together. Bottom line.
Bowe showed remarkable ability against Holyfield and Golota showed remarkable ability against Bowe. Golota went forward half ****ed and got handled. Bowe was a little more circumspect, and rather than fight lewis he ditched the belts.
Many people who claim Bowe would have beat Lewis forget that Bowe had little to no self control and Lewis could exploite that weakness. Golota sure found that out!
