  • HW Trivia: Forget rematches how about three-peats?

Identify four HW Champions who fought the same opponent in three consecutive fights?

Note: the fights may or may not have been contested for the HW championship; the champion may or may not have been champion at the time of the fights.

    1.
    2.
    3.
    4.

P.S. I found a fifth one but it was very early in his career and almost an unfair question; no one gets it without research.

    5.

Definitely a great trilogy, but no, looking for three consecutive fights; no other fights in the interim.

off topic but had to look up colored hw championship and share these amazing facts from wiki:

"This was the only recognized heavyweight championship available to blacks prior to Jack Johnson winning the world heavyweight title in 1908." - wiki

The World Boxing Council attempted to create a similar championship in 2004 called the All African World Championship, which would be open to boxers of African descent from any country as well as boxers of any race living in Africa.[2] This proposal was met with worldwide criticism

Once he was the world's heavyweight champ, Jack Johnson (who relinquished the colored title) never fought black opponents, either. He denied matches to black heavyweights Joe Jeanette (his successor as colored heavyweight champ) and Sam Langford

I would have thought Patterson - Ingo would be the most obvious one? So that's two more right there.

Also Walcott had 3 fights in a row against Charles.

And Primo Carnera closed out his career with 3 straight defeats against countryman Luigi Musina.

Speaking of Charles, isn't he considered the best light heavyweight of all time, but was denied a shot at the title at that weight class? Was it because the champ there at the time knew he would lose to Charles or because of Charles being black?
