Perhaps daddy-trained fighters generally start too early for their own later durability.

Average hand speed or average punching power aren't all that unusual among the greats. Now, if a fighter is lacking both on the other hand....

No single attribute is necessary to become a boxing ATG, other than chin, and a man named Thomas Hearns has even thrown that category into doubt. Still, chin is without doubt the single quality most often possessed and needed by every ATG. An ATG does not necessarily have a good jab, a good hook, a good cross, good footwork, etc., et al, but he had better have a darned good chin.

A rare fighter is the ATG, but an ATG without a great chin is even more rare. It is possible Roy Jones was another exception, but we are not here to argue that case right now.

The point is, though, that every great fighter usually has a few weaknesses, or at least some areas where their abilities are less than superlative. Those are what we are looking for here.

As examples we give Jones and Hearns as ATGs with mediocre chins (incidentally, the most rare breed of ATG) who were good enough in other areas to compensate for less than stellar beards.
              they didnt have mediocre chins.

              end of thread.

I raised this point the other day. I think Napoles is one of the hardest fighters in history to outbox or outfight. Sure, he lost to Monzon where he was grossly undersized and his last fight vs. Stracey when he was washed up but at 147 of what is on film he's basically a perfect fighter. Crazy that his prime or at least his physical prime may have been at 135 and he was frozen out.

An older guy I know said when he was a kid his dad would take him down to watch him train when he was in LA and you could smell the booze on him. He'd often bring a couple of ladies to watch him too probably that he'd met the night prior.

P.S - I sent you some DM's regarding Eder Jofre. I've seen you post in the post on him. I'd like to see what footage you have. I don't know if you have the full Jose Legra fight as it's super rare but I got it. I had lost it but recently found it again.

                  Thanks.
