But, I’ve come to the conclusion it doesn’t matter on internet. Any post you regret will soon be drowned and forgotten because of the net’s constant cacaphony. Unfortunately, if you write some wise stuff, it will drown and be forgotten as well.
boxing and alcohol goes hand and hand these days.

Whatever else one wishes to say about the fight--and I believe it was a bad stylistic matchup for Spinks--Mike Tyson, in 1988, was simply an exceptional boxer. The progression from 1985 to the Spinks fight was dramatic; Tyson always had exceptional power and speed; as time went on he got better at putting everything together into a complete package.

Yeah, until he let Rooney go, got lazy and let his skills decline.

--- Tyson was full loony when he let Rooney go.

He was starting a 15 year public mental breakdown that only the then experimental psychiatric drug Prozac could partially contain. That left him too impaired to properly fight, something he wasn't even interested in anymore.

He was propped up so the suits and leeches could squeeze every dime out of him. Best fighter in history derailed by something that can never be understood, mental illness.

Tyson had nothing to fear from Spinks. Spinks in turn walked into the ring highly intimidated. Spinks only path to victory was not to be tagged solidly but he was and the rest is history.

Agreed. Spinks seemed shaken before the contest ever started.

Yeah, didn't Spinks pretty much come out of retirement for this fight to cash out for his golden years?

Yeah, he did, lol. Funny, I wanted him to win all those years ago, but I didn't have the sense to comprehend the situation back then. Again, that was prime or near-prime Tyson, and no way was Spinks going to do anything against that monster.

I honestly don't know if it would haven been much different if Spinks weren't afraid. Tyson was bigger and stronger than him
At that time Tyson’s time... I was betting on him... living in japan I think if spinks would have pushed back... that guy would have lasted at most a round or two... 90 seconds.. plus a few.... I got nothing to say.
