Further the count was NOT short. It was timed twice on ABC WWofS several weeks later. He was down for ten seconds.

Foreman dropped out of the game for 15 months after being koed by Ali. He then retired two years later. He had only himself to blame for not getting a rematch.

Exactly. Even Hagler could have gotten Ray again at some point.

--- You two seem a little touched in the head co-joined twins.

When unable to secure the lucrative Ali rematch, George was on the front cover of Sports Illustrated demanding the rematch. Then he went to canada to promote it with Ali and Cosell following like 2 curs following the gravy train for scraps. Cosell in his ****** yeller ABC suit intoning about the disgrace of George knocking around 5 heavies in a row with Ali repeatedly screaming "You ain't never getting no rematch you bum!"

Marv retired a year after Ray retired having never once defended his ill gotten belt. A week later Ray announced a comeback in a series money grabbing farces that ill served his legacy.

Win/lose or draw, Marvs legacy is intact. Rays is somewhat ethereal in comparison. He lost a lot of fans with the way he jacked around a lot of great fighters.

Give me Hearns, Hagler, or Duran and I'll let y'all continue to prop up Ray.

Art Rust? Is that the same guy who wrote the Joe Louis biography? Loved that book.

Yes. He was really a living encyclopedia of boxing. Had a radio show on NY radio for many years. I remember his interview with Foreman vividly as it was the first time where he tried being truthful regarding his KO loss to Ali.

Ever heard the story that Ali told Foreman to come out of retirement and KO Norton again? Promising if Foreman took care of Ali's "Norton problem" he would guarantee Foremen a rematch.
