Don Jardine aka The Spoiler was was one of my all time favorites. I have a match of his vs Andre the Giant on video I believe from Houston in the early 80's. Just a masterful psychological heel that guy was.
I remember the legion of Doom group as they were on the show that aired at 6:05 on WTBS out of Atlanta.I think that was around 1983. That show used to be known as Georgia Championship Wrestling.By 1982/1983 it was indeed changed to World Championship Wrestling.I do not believe Jim Crockett was involved at that time.
Vince McMahon bought the Georgia time slot in 1984 I believe and ran it for awhile but pissed Ted Turner off because the matches that were aired in that time slot were recorded matches from the East Coast and were not done in the WTBS studio as they had been for years.
I understand Crockett bought the WTBS timeslot from McMahon in 85 and that is when it officially fell under the Crockett Promotions banner.

These rasslers are a joke, full enough of steroids to burst. The rassling voice they all use is hilarious idiocy. Just as evangelist preachers have a voice, so do rasslers. They scream words while keeping their pitch as low as possible. It is the monster voice you use on little kids. It works for them because their fans have the brains of little kids and would like to polish a bigtime rassler's fireman's hat..

I dont think Ali was like the Spoiler !

The Spoiler could literally walk on the top ropes ,he would climb them then jump down on his opposition using the "CLAW " A technique that uses open fingers spread across the face squeezing the temples until they had enough !
If you took a survey and found the "influence for quite a few of the wrassling handbook of "death techniques" they would all have a common source that would probably suprise quite a few people.

Jesse Ventura had that voice...I loved it. I use it with my two four legged kids when I really want them to listen.

I don't either, as I've hardly seen any footage from then, but Jake mentions it on his WWE DVD.

When McMahon briefly took over Georgia Championship Wrestling, it became known as Black Saturday. Here's a great youtube channel that looks into a lot of the old school stories in the business like this one, the murder of Dino Bravo and the infamous Montreal Screwjob: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HI4t1a9v1VU&t=19s
