Without hesitation he said, “That’s true. I fought him for the Du-Well A.C. It was 1938, and that fight was upstairs in a downtown building. Sugar Ray fought under the name of Ray Roberts. Ray always used that name when he fought in the amateurs.”

Willie continued, “Ray’s real name was Walker Smith. He wiped me out that night, and it was my only amateur loss. I was a flyweight at 105 pounds, and Sugar Ray, a welterweight.”

According to this Hartford Courant newspaper article Robinson only weighed 1 lb more than Pep that night.

    - -We get U #1 turrd in U own punch bowl.

Ray 17 and Pep 16 when they fought, and years later when both developing alzanheimers they interviewed Pep.

I saw da fight jack and it was magnificent, pt being Peashooter ain't the monster Ray was, so there is no functional size advantage against Pep.

Willie Pep was born on Septemer 19, 1922.

If he were alive today he would be 97-years-old.

Are you really that ancient? If so I guess it would explain your apparent senility and dementia!

Maybe we should start calling you Queen Tut, you old mummy.

Normally, I'm inclined to pick against the Featherweight - even if he's the greatest fighter ever.

But Whitaker hit like a bi.tch, whereas Pep simply preferred not to hurt his opponent. And while Whitaker's volume might rack up points, Pep was the far superior combination puncher.

Really, I think it's decided by Pep's footwork. He's more mobile than Whitaker, and can go a full 15 Rounds at light speed.

Pep prime years between 126-135 and Pea first title challenge at 130 where he obviously needed more development.

U making up false equivalencies priceless. Cue in the monkeys with "but we say he beat Oscar!"

Willie was an exciting offensive and defensive freestylist whereas Pea concentrated on his clowning defense. Ain't gonna work vs Precrash Pep.

                      Gold star 4 U obfustification.

Got U granny and U ****** whooping Willie too, eh?
I don't think pea beat Oscar. I said at 135 he's too tier.

And at 130 he looked great. I never saw such a one sided dominate Olympic gold win either.
