Wepner was an above average hitter. His hard punch, chin, and size are all he really had. He was nothing extraordinary, but the guy could punch a little.

The answer to this would probably be some blown up middleweight arm puncher who was competitive with the top heavyweights of his time, if such a man ever existed.

I would go so far as to say that Ali was above average in power. Not raw power, but virtual power. With that much speed, and the ability to catch his opponents off guard (when he wasn't telegraphing his straights, anyway), at full extension, he had some sting in those punches. He often puffed people up or cut them after very few solid connections.

Byrd has to be up there among notables. For his size and his skill, I'm surprised that Lennox Lewis didn't hit harder. That doesn't mean he's one of the weakest, just surprising.

McNeely didn't hit very hard apparently. In his fight with Tyson, when Mike clearly had some ring rust, McNeely connected more than was usual for Tyson to almost no effect.

If we're talking about natural heavyweights, then my vote would have to go with Buster Mathis Jr.

Jimmy Young and Chris Byrd didn't make anyone forget about Sonny Liston.

                What do you mean.

McNeely was a hard hitter, Iron Mike just had an iron chin. Hurricane KO'd bums, but you gotta have power to KO that many boxers.
