  • Did Larry Holmes get robbed vs Holyfield?

Recently I have watched this fight a few times and scored it widely in Holmes favor. I didn't see Holyfield score anything effective besides forcing the fight. Holmes was fat and old and was bouncing shots on Holyfields head all night while blocking and rolling the majority of Holyfields shots. Holyfield was aggressive but completely ineffective.

Absolulty NOT...Holmes didn't win more than 3 rounds and that's IF. You have to beat the champion not the other way around, all Holmes did up until rnd 6 was lay on the ropes hoping to land a big counter shot while taking endless body shots and combos, he scored here and there and had a very good second rnd but no rnds to actually give him decicivley .they both landed good shots but Holyfield clearly the busier fighter and Holmes also missed MANY shots of his own ,it wasn't target practice!

Holyfield landed many inside left hooks ,how did you miss them? Did you see the double left hook in the last rnd that staggered Holmes back? How about those body shots by the end of rnd two holmes was out of breath, while Duva had to tell him hes in the wrong corner.................

I only gave him a clear the 11th rnd maybe bc Holyfield coasted and danced around the ring without much engaging.....other than that Holyfield CLEARLY won,if anything Holyfield tired himself out by jumping all over the place from trnd 1 to 12.....good fight but one sided how can anyone not see that?

I personally do not remember the fight but I do not recall the judging being questioned

I recall Holyfield winning clearly. Holmes was beaten so badly, he puked in his corner at the end of the 12th and final round.

So, to answer the question, no, Holmes was not robbed.

No, Evander outworked him. Holmes had sort of a workable game plan but he ended up becoming overwhelmed by the busier man. It was a pretty good fight though.

No, but I know he was rubbed plenty.

The only thing Holmes was robbed of that night was a fully digested dinner.

Honestly rewatch it, I don't see this at all and I am trying my best not to be biased. most of you by the sounds of it are going off of memory.

As I recall it, it was a quite clear win for Holyfield. The only memorable moment from that fight is Holmes barfing after the final bell.
