Punch technique is developed off the style and form one uses in the ring.
Joe Fraziers left hook won't be like Willie Peps because of the differences in their form.
Basics first taught are usually elbows down and in and to pronate as the arm reaches 80% completion. You add hips and legs as you move along along with finishing moves.
Fighters like Jake LaMotta had good punch techniques most people wouldn't see that because of his form and style put he threw excellent punches with both hands.
The best techniques come from the fighters who can adapt to their opponents.
Sugar Ray Robinson was a multi-talented man because of his adaptability.
To me Joe Louis is easily the best heavyweight when it comes to techniques, he delivered short shots and pronated and looked to punch through (past) his target! Thats how you get max power from proper punching technique.

Didn't even think of Arguello and Lopez, as I knew of them, but haven't watched their careers yet. Was going to add Tyson until I just saw it.

What about Jack Dempsey? Didn't you guys say he even wrote a book on his punching technique?

He wrote a book in which power punching gets a lot of exposure. He talks about everything from shovel hooks to the fall step with the jab. Dempsey's jab was something that could hurt you. Not too much chance to use a fall step against the gaint Willard. No need to.

I still say the best punching technique is the one that proves most effective for a fighter. If you beat the top guys and win a lot of fights by stoppage, then you're effective.
