Though I would love to be wrong, you cannot count on his adaptability much. His biggest hope lies in Fury's own mediocrity and possible chinnyness.

For selfish reasons he is delaying this phase of contract negotiations, and is likely to extend them at least to their legal limit, I conjecture. As a fan, I abhor deliberate delays.

I don't see Vlad transforming himself with the perfect fight plan against the larger, more mobile man. The beginning of something interesting could be if he negotiated for a smaller ring. The fight begins long before the bell. The doctors of sports science have to devise the correct plan. One of the doctors has to have the technical ability and the heart to execute the features of the plan. This is sounding more unlike Vlad all the time.

If he is able to stalk Fury and cut off the ring, I will give him a lot of credit. But I would not pay ten dollars to watch it, that is how much faith I have in his ability to change up.
I want to see what he does and if he changes, that solidifies his legacy probably better than anything else ever could.

However, I agree. I just can't see him fighting like he is the shorter fighter. He's never had to do so that I know of and he just couldn't make that adjustment. He's still going to be in the HOF and has nothing to be ashamed of. At 40, maybe it's time to go ahead and get out while he's still healthy anyway.

What you have said seems tantamount to admitting he never could have beaten the lumbering traveller. He couldn't make the adjusments now and he could never have made them, you are saying. That is something for him to be ashamed of, if Fury is overall as weak as I believe he is.

We shall see what the brains of doctors of sports science can come up with and execute. It is hopeful to think he might at least try to execute a good strategy and not be up to it, rather than look helpless again.

If he figures he cannot beat Fury any other way, then expect him to sit out the terms of the contract, forcing Fury to squander prime years waiting for the quaking slav. He may not be able to beat him, but he can ruin the career and prevent Fury from displaying how vulnerable he is to decent fighters until he is old enough for people to say he got old overnight.

This is the true coward's way out. The very same behavior helped trash Tszyu's legacy. Vlad is throwing yet another slav tantrum. We will see a lot more such tantrums in boxing now that the eastern Europeans are here. We are used to tantrums but the slavs may take it to a whole new level of consistency. They will not be outdone!
The cold war is over, old man.

I would have thought the true cowards way would be to never step in the ring at all because of your cowardice? Or maybe it's to talk of great men who actually walk the walk as cowards in anonymity?

It doesn't seem that cowardly to me of a championship fighter closer to 40, and largely inactive, to realise that age has finally gotten the better of him when he fights a very hard bruising fight with a 25 year old prime guy and loses and decide to give it in and enjoy the life that 35 years of fighting had given him rather than take a mostly pointless last fight for something he had already had for well over a decade.

Anyway, all seems a little bizarre to me.

Oh man, that is truly harsh stuff and I think unfair, Wlad has little to prove to me, if he wants to retire like Tszyu then it's his right. Not sure if you know guys like Wlad, I have a friend who knows what being hit by Wlad is like... and by Tyson too. I think if you ever fought as a pro you might have a bit more understanding. having said that I think Klitschko will rematch him anyway. Let the best man win.

Yeah, well said Benny, what the hell do fighters need to do to get respect ? I mean how can he criticize Tszyu either, that guy was a freakishly great fighter and pound for pound best puncher I seen in modern times. After Hatton there was nothing to prove and Wlad has proved himself too, not his fault there is no Joe Louis or Frazier or Foreman for him to fight is there.

Well if Wlad ends up winning back the title, he'll pull an Ali, winning the title back at the end of his career. Even if he does, he should still retire. Let Wilder then unify the title.

I haven't noticed anyone else leaving their name and addresses after their posts.

Now it was a bruising fight. Who got buised, the referee or a cornerman?

Your calling a practically non fight a bruising fight seems bizarre to me.

Let me tell you something, everyone on here has said something about a fighter they would not repeat to his face. This includes you, son. Your criticism of me is about as stiff as a wash rag.

I don't get this post, it's almost IMPOSSIBLE to have a fight and not be bruised somewhere, hell one guy came up and pushed me in the face once and I slammed his head in and I never remembered the bloke hitting me once but the next day I was sore in a few places with at least three bruises, one on the ribs, never recalled him landing a punch... now put yourself in with guys almost 7 foot tall and 12 rounds and tell me there is no bruising I will argue you never had a fight in your life mate. They did hit each other even if it was rather boring.
