    • Hello, citizens of BoxingScene, and welcome to The Houston's Astrodome.

      Presenting,

"NBA Playoffs + Boxing =" Finals!

for the John L. Sullivan Trophy!

      between

      Muhammad Ali
      Western Conference Champion

      versus

      Joe Louis
      Eastern Conference Champion

There are a lot of questions to be answered about Joe Louis. How much does he have left in the tank? These losses must have taken it's toll on him psychologically. Louis definetely has his back against the wall. However, against Sonny Liston, he responded well after being down 3 games to one and came back to win the entire series, and the same thing can happen tonight. How will Ali prepare for any strategies Louis and the Pompton Lakes camp may have up their sleeves? How will this fight go? I imagine Muhammad will fight a conservative fight tonight to ensure a victory. He certainly has the tools and the know how to keep Louis away from him. The 24 foot ring will be Ali's friend in this whole thing. Will this be the end for Joe Louis Barrow tonight, or will it be just the beginning? I interviewed the Brown Bomber in a Butterfly Productions exclusive!

      Butterfly1964: Are you nervous?

Joe Louis: Yes, I am. But I am confident about what me and Chappy worked on during training.

Butterfly: Are you going to be more patient, or are you going right after him?

Louis: I have to go after him, but I can't make ****** mistakes, so I have to be a little patient.

Butterfly: Anything else you want to say before I go?

Louis: I will win this fight tonight, this is a guarantee. Tonight, my arm will be raised in victory.

Louis is a very determined man, and here is the tale of the tape for these gladiators.

      Muhammad Ali

      age: 25
      height: 6'-3"
      weight: 212
      reach: 83"
      record: 29-0-0 (23ko)

      Joe Louis

      age: 28
      height: 6'-2"
      weight: 206
      reach: 76"
      record: 56-1-0 (50ko)

The crowd cheers as Joe Louis enters the ring, many want him to win. Louis is wearing a black robe with his name stiched in gray lettering. He now comes in the ring and has his head down.

The crowd is joyous now that Muhammad Ali enters in view. He bounces down the $50 seats, then the $100 seats, then the $250, $500 and $1,000 seats, until he gets tothe $2,000 seats and into the ring. Ali is wearing a white robe with his name stiched in red lettering. He is in the ring and warms up. by shadowboxing, and doing his little shufle, the famous "Muhammad Ali Shuffle", which befuddles everyone!

Here is our ring announcer, Michael Buffer!

Michael Buffer: Ladies and gentleman, welcome to the Playoff Boxing Finals! Llllets get readyyy to rummmblllllllle! Fifteen rounds! Mark Conn: You know the rules of the Texas State Athletic Boxing Commision. Protect yourself at all times, and break when I tell you to break. Any questions? Shake hands and come out fighting.

Ali is on his toes in his corner, and Louis is still. Ali is now the 2:1 favorite to win the tournament.

      • Round 1: Both men come out, feeling each other out. Ali jabs louis and moves. Louis jabs and then comes forward. Ali uses the jab a lot, and counters well with the right. Louisd throws a one-two that's short of the mark, and ali leans back on the punch and moves laterally to the right. Ali then throws a jab, then left hook. Louis gets shots to the body and they both clinch. ali pushes Joe away. louis lands a good combination at the bell: Dundee and Blackburn is giving both men instructions.

Round 2: Louis is shuffling his feet to get close and lands a one-two on ali's temple. Ali just moves. Ali is now landing a steady stream of jabs. Joe presses on and uses his jabv a little. Ali lands a hard right hand and then a left uppercut and an overhand right and simultaneously getting out of harm's way. Ali lands good blows in this round: Dundee is giving ali instructions and working ali over.

Round 3: Louis makes an attempt to cut the ring off, nd ali goes into his twinkletoes routine and dances away from any punishment. ali moves and tghrows a jab and then a right that worries joe. Joe fires back with a good uppercut, but ali is not bothered: Blackburn is applying ice to Louis' eye.

Round 4: Ali comes out dancing once again, and lands some more jabs, and the occasional right hand. Louis is trying to duck under it, but most of the jabs are getting in, simply because they are two fast, and ali's accuracy is tremendous. Louis tries for a left hook, but ali avoids it. Louis is trying to use the jab and right hand as a trick to make ali run into his left hook. But ali fights a smart fight and is ready for any form of lunge or attack from Louis. Ali is on the back foot hitting louis with a lot of jabs. Ali misses the right hand at the bell, and louis scores with a left hook after the bell: Blackburn is again trying to keep that eye under control.

Round 5: Ali now goes flatfooted, but he still is fast as ever. Louis lands a good combination, the best set of punches he has landed so far. ali lands the jab well, and louis ducks under one to uppercut him. ali is hurt a little and louis goes after ali and lands a good one-two as ali is against the ropes. Louis concentrates on body punching and then ali pushes Louis off and goes on his toes again, landing some good jabs. Louis lands some lefts of his own, and some good right hands to wear Muhammad down. Ali triews to recover and lands a fast flurry to stop louis in his tracks. Ali is flatfooted again and blocks a few of joe's punches at the bell: dundee is working ali over to get him fresh. Chappy is still concerned about that eye.

Round 6: Ali is still flatfooted and is concentrating on his right hand. Louis is jabbing as well, but he is short of the mark a lot of the time. Louis' right hand gets in a couple of times, but ali is not hurt. Louis is hurt by a quick flurry and ali moves in with a good one-two. Louis recovers and scores with a solid left hook. Ali lands well with his jab as the round ends: Dundee is again working ali over, while Chappy applies ice to louis' puffed up eye.

Round 7: Louis is fighting at a faster pace, but is catching a lot of leather from Muhammad. Muhammad is flatfooted and is now hitting the slower joe at will. Ali moves in and out with ease, and Louis now has a cut eye. ali is working on that eye. Ali lands some right hands that staggers Louis. ali continues to pour it on as Louis is getting tired. Louis slips, and the referee wipes louis' gloves and they continue. Ali shuffles and lands a good one-two-three and louis is reeling against the ropes. Ali tries to finish, but the bell sounds!: Blackburn is tring furiously to keep that eye under control.

Round 8: Ali is moving at a faster pace and scoring heavily on his weary opponent. Ali methodically lands many jabs and short combinations. Joe lands a few punches, but they have absolutely no effect. Ali stuns louis again with a left hook, and ali continues to jab and move. Louis tries to land one big punch, but at this point Ali is to fast for Louis. Louis is game, but ali still dominates the round: Dundee is giving Muhammad's instructions, while Blackburn is tring to revive Louis.

Round 9: Ali is moving and jabbing. Louis hits ali about twice with some light punches, and ali counters with the left. Louis looks tired and wasted, blood dripping from his eye. Ali stuns joe again with a right hand. Muhammad then circles the ring, and then feints, and moves in double pumping to throw louis off and then when joe is in a corner, unleashes a lightning fast flurry of hooks and then straight lefts and rights ala Brian London and Louis goes down! Ali goes to a neutral corner and referee Mark Conn starts the count. As Conn is counting, Ali raises his arms and shuffles his feet out into the center of the ring, like he did when he won the title against Sonny Liston. The count is 7, 8, 9...louis tries to get up, but is too late...10! The crowd goes wild. That's it! The fight is stopped! Muhammad Ali wins by a dramatic ninth round knockout! Ali is celebrating by jumping around the ring. He walks over to console louis as louis leaves the ring in shame. Muhammad Ali wins in five games and wins the entire tournament!!

Michael Buffer: The winner by a knockout in the ninth round and the Playoff Boxing Champion, Mmmmuuuuuuhaaaammmmmaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllliiiiiii iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!

        I'm going into ring center.

Butterfly1964: Congradulations, Muhammad. How do you feel?

Ali: Oh, I feel great. I'm so happy... whooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Butterfly: What are you gonna do next?

Ali: I'm going to Disney World!!!

Wow what a scene. I can hardly hear myself think it's so loud! What a finish to a great tournament. I guess now Muhammad Ali can call himself "The Greatest". He's certainly proved it tonight.

Ali: Well, my jabs got through, and I got him with a lot of right hands.

              (Loud Shouting)
Reporter3: Is he your toughest fighter in the whole tournament?

Ali: I would say so. He was the fastest, and he ws really tricky.

              (Loud Shouting)
Reporter4: Were you hurt at any time?

Ali: Yeah, in the fifth. he really tricked me into those ropes and landed some shots that shook me a little.

              (Loud Shouting)
Reporter5: Is Louis easy to tag?

Ali: He's not real easy, cause he blocks a lot of them, but he's not real hard either.

              (Loud Shouting)
Reporter6: What was your physical condition for this fight?

Ali: Excellent, as usual. I wasn't taking no chances with this guy.

              (Loud Shouting)
Reporter7: Do you feel he tried something different in this fight?

Ali: I don' think he's tried anything I haven't seen him do before.

Reporter10: Those mind games you were playing on Joe, was that just an act, or was there something serious?

Reporter11: Are you suprised that you are unmarked?

              (Loud Shouting)
Reporter12: If you did lose this game, then how do you think you would have done on Louis' terf?
