No, it started in the dream world, then ended up in the real world when Jason woke up. Don't you remember the scene in the hospital when the stoner is possessed by Freddy and he shoots him up with big injections of tranquilizers? Here's the scene:

Then, since Jason is asleep, they fight in the dream world here, indicated by the red background, followed by the green, showing the transition to Camp Crystal Lake and Jason's memory of his drowning:
