ALL trainers are influenced by him, his pivot moves and block and counter techniques are valued by every trainer. Ofcourse you need the student wityh eye/hand to learn these things but he developed and mastered these moves.

This is just another post from elroid showing that he knows NOTHING about the sport. There isn't an active trainer today who has contributed more than Mr. Blackburn!

I don't need to do this crap for these little ****heads BUT if it means they get lost in Fantasy Land I'd do it.

I don't have scrap books and memorabila but my son reluctantly shipped some of the newspaper coverage from the 70' & 80's.

Mr. Blackburn can take credit for being a link in the past from which most accomplished American trainers since have drew atleast some lineage from.

In fact it would be pretty rare and surprising should any trainer of great repute NOT to be able to trace something back to what was then one of the greatest of all trainers.

We would not be in dispute on this point.

Doesn't change the fact that he would be useless today to train any but the most backwater club level fighters at an amateur level.

As I said before, there was very little progress made during the blackburn era in reality and F/A progress in fact from 1860-1980. Boxing was simply a "bum sport" until then.

There is no comparison to the professionalism of the fighters and their trainers today.
