Wlad's Place in History Discussion
Probably never will be a huge favourite among USA fans and in many other countries but Wlad did successfully defend his title more times and I think over a longer period than any previous champ and for sure I wouldn't put shyte on him to a Ukranian.. He moved pretty well for a giant and it took another giant in Tyson Fury to de-throne him, Wlad hit hard, maybe only because of his size, I didn't get to see his fight against Fury but I guess hardly anyone did, you still can't see even a highlight video of the fight and there are many of his fights I didn't bother to see either but that's not Wlad's fault, I simply refuse to pay 100 bucks a month for FOX and then the extra PpV costs, I want my boxing free to air........................................ but anyway, point is I cannot make a full review of him as a fighter, he had most of the skills, hit hard and had a pretty good chin, faults I observed was speed and sometimes his stamina wasn't the best and he did a lot of holding but alas, his title reign is over now so he belongs to history now. He has joined Jeffries, Johnson, Willard, Dempsey, Tunney, Louis, Walcott, Marciano, Patterson, Clay, Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Holmes, Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis and his brother as major champs of the heavyweight division,
I do not think it appropriate here to put Wlad against any of the guys for 30 years ago to 100 years ago, the size differences ARE very important and we will just get a false idea of him. What matters with him, the names I mentioned already and every other champ since time began is WHO did they fight, WHO did they beat, WERE they dominant, WERE they drug cheats. WHAT did their contemporaries feel and think about him.... etc.... you can only fight and beat what is out there...........
