Ali was outboxing Foreman the whole night and staggered him. This is a fact.
Foreman landed plenty of shots on Ali throughout the night. Sure, he probably never landed a flush, full-powered uppercut on his chin, but he didn't need to.
"Foreman almost decapitated Cooney with a grazing uppercut...he knocked out Michael Moorer in another dimension with a 1-2 that looked like it couldn't hurt a fly...he was rocking Holyfield senseless with JABS...Foreman was a force of nature."
This above has nothing to do with nothing .
"Look, this is simple. Every time Lewis met a good jabber he was outjabbed. He simply did not have a great jab. A very heavy one, yes. It made opponents re-think their gameplan once they got hit with it...but he never won a jabbing contest against another formidable jabber."
The above is false !
Holyfield stated that was more difficult the second time around because of Lewis jab that he couldnt get around.
Even an exhausted foreman by round 6 was still pushing him backwards. As to the head shot count ,foreman punches that actually landed solid was extremely poor,in round one alone,he only landed 4 ones out of about 25 head shots thrown...altether he landed about only 27 power shots to the head and not one landed was off the ropes, the best punch was foremans right uppercut in rnd round 7 but he looked like he was on his death bed.All in all I saw glancing blows /blocked and completly missed ones that would resemble a major league pitcher more than a pro fighter,no wonder why he lost so badly.. sorry but when you watch the actual fight this is what is seen! Holyfield did not out jab him which is why he lost TWICE. As a matter of fact Holyfield stated Lewis was more difficult the second time around and had more difficulties getting past his jab.....you are simply not really watching theses fights . Again where is this staggered Foreman you speak of ?What rnd ?Time? The only time Foreman stumbled was from his own missed shots with Ali leaning backwards on the ropes !
The only thing without real question you stated that was right was Lewis would slaughter dempsey!
Ali vs Foreman was one of the greatest fights in history... What you don't understand is boxing. Muhammad Ali was a "Dancing Master" his dancing skills in the opening round are incredible.
Foreman applied tremendous pressure in the first 3 rounds. Lennox Lewis would have been knocked out, within 2rds against that George Foreman.
Take a look at the link below, and see the fastest jab and best jab in boxing history @ 5.29-5.33 Muhammad Ali throws the 3 fastest jabs any heavyweight ever threw. You can hear the "Thud" as they land. lightening fast jabs.
Muhammad Ali had the best jab of all times. Against Foreman, Ali jabs Foreman so many times he saps the strength from Foreman with jabs.Comment

It gets worse.
Although I never usually doubt myself I forced my ass to sit through Lyle vs Ali again last night to see if I had strayed from the path of truth.
Instead, I was reconfirmed double.
Ali lands a freak right which shakes Lyle and he spends around 30s covering up trying to recoup. The following shots landed from Ali were nothing but shoeshiners and windmakers. And then Ali looks to the ref to stop it? Wouldn't his interest be on the fighter? The ref steps in waving Lyle off without him even being seriously hurt, he was never even KDed!
As I said, Ali had been battered 10x worse and allowed to continue and against Foreman Lyle was on the canvas many times and able to go on.
You said he took too many? Wouldn't that be proof of a weak Ali punch that he couldn't put Lyle away?
After the decision, Lyle looks absolutely flabbergasted over the decision and utterly disgusted. He had won the title and had it snatched from him by a cheat.
The most interesting thing is this fight encapsulates typical Ali in total..
Ali displays no reflexes and if you watch, he is hit by nearly EVERY single Lyle punch throughout the entire fight.
And the punches from each are just so weak looking even an ordinary bloke could take the majority of them from the looks.
There is no footwork to speak of at all, Ali seems as if he just got out of bed.
More the point both these guys are SO slow. Massive Tyson Fury is just as fast.
There is no way in hell any of these guys competes in the 90's.
Hell forget LEwis, could you imagine them even against Tommy Morrison? Only the most terminally ill version of Tommy (RIP) could have failed to knock both of these circus clowns out in the first round.
Weakness, talentless, luck and ROBBERY... These are the words that describe Ali best in this outing I am afraid.Comment

I urge EVERYONE to watch and listen to the 1st and the 10th round of LYle vs Ali before judging the finale in the 11th.
The inbetween rounds were virtually identical to the 1st and 11th, with LYle tapping the idiot up and Ali neither boxing or anything really.
And it is evident from the commentary how rubbish the performance is.
This is not masterful boxing.. This is a bum fight. A HW TITLE of the 70's. Unbelievable!Comment

Your talking Rubbish Jugger.. I attended an Evening with Holyfield in 2014. Evander claimed many times during that evening, "He was Robbed" in his rematch with Lewis. Every boxing fan i ever mention that fight too, agree Holyfield was Robbed. Holyfield won 7-5 at worst.

You are in denial you even stated how great 90's Tubbs was strictly becuae he went the distance with a prime Bowe then criticize Lewis with Bruno and Tucker? lmao
I bring that up to show you where your head is at!
As the Holyfield second fight comment well.....
Anyone with an ounce of boxing IQ can clearly see Lewis won in a competitive but controlled manner.
"Ali vs Foreman was one of the greatest fights in history."
One of being the keyword and like all Ali hyped fights only because of the hype...Foreman was then and always highly overatted....power doesn't equal skill!

Yea he did so much dancing on the ropes the for 7 rounds, the reality is he only moved for about 2 minutes of the first round before tasting the first hard shot that grazed him???Last edited by juggernaut666; 11-22-2015, 03:10 PM.Comment

Muhammed alis jab was not a top 5 jab...it wasnt strong or stiff..it was weak and more used as a measuring tool...he did have snap in it from a distance and when able to take opponets later in rounds cut them, with the exception of easy to cut Quarry show cased it well.....But it is not a superior jab compared to the likes of..Bowe/Lewis/ 90's Foreman/Wlad / Thomas and Holmes...Yes it was the best jab in his 60's era.......guys like young and Norton had just as good as one in the 70's.Holmes had arguably the best ever up until Wlad.
