I highly doubt that. I don't think you realize how strong and athletic Wilt was. Even giving a short fight would prove more dangerous than a small fighter you know you are going to run circles around. Folley wasn't even nearly as good as he was in 67 than his early years. zorra was so far gone he lost to Brian London ,if you really think a 7 foot monster is less than a challenge for Ali ,have at it. Wilt was as strong as Shaq.If you don't think he wont find throwing jabs easy and learning basics to beat a guy like Folley well.........

Well first off I thought we were talking about a prime Folley. He was at the end of his career when he fought Ali.

But I can still see that Folley beating Chamberlain, who I saw play basketball many times. Zora was a pretty good defensive fighter, and I think he makes Wilt miss repeatedly until he tires badly and gets taken out. Boxing is just a totally different sport. Same thing would have happened to Too Tall Jones if he ever fought a live body.

Im talking about the date of the proposed fight. Ali never fought a prime Folley.the fighters that were there at THAT time...Wilt would have been a top guy for sure. He would be harder than Mildenberger for different reasons. as he would with Williams who also was a non threat at the time Ali fought him. Wilt would have been the first athletic big man Ali ever faced who had footwork. Jones was a football player,he was not as athletic as Wilt all around,we don't know how he would do either as a shw in that era. Jones was a Lyle type fighter however he was 6'10 this is no easy task if your name is not Ali.theres just no way I am putting a 67 folley over a Wilt here.

If wilt was a boxer instead of a basketball player, I would give him a chance due to his freak size.. But in reality, the dude wasn't a fighter and would have been easy work for ali..

Doesn't anyone remember when shaq sparred little golden boy Oscar.. Oscar was tearing him up

Yep. I remember Shane Mosley sparred with him too. Made Shaq look like a total novice.

Anybody who thinks a 7 foot tall basketball player can transition to boxing and become a top fighter without years of training and experience is an idiot. That's as nice as I can say it.

I guess no one would have a chance against Angus Mackaskill. They would never find a glove to fit his hand. Liston's mitt would sit inside Mackaskill's like a baby's. His bare hand was bigger than Liston's gloved mitt. Try that on for size. His fist would have been the size of Sonny's biceps. In fact, he was exactly as much taller than Wilt as Wilt was than Ali.

The difference is Wilt is a proven athlete and has even out lifted Swartzenneggar a prime roided Arnold...,so hes not just athletic hes physically strong.

Shaq toyed with mosley on his knees....I dont think Oscar would last one round if shaq really went at him...give me late 90's Shaq over him anyday.

I don't think Ali could beat Wilt with even just some basic boxing training because of Ali's style.

He doesn't have the in and out style or the infighting one to chop down Chamberlain, his run and tap style able to be easily nullified by a plodding giant like Chamberlain with such range.

I think Valuev would have pretty easily done Ali in.

Boxers like Haye and Chagaev could have busted Wilt in similar fashion to Valuev because of their tactical skillsets which Ali lacked. IT was either run or hug or simply take punches until the opponent got tired for Ali I'm afraid.
