Sure Duran had success, then again it is said that Einstein did not like Bohr's ideas related to Quantum Physics....doesn't mean a typical physicist is ready to argue with Einstein regarding his opinions of Heisenberg's uncertainty principle!

A fighter like Benitez was so locked up agianst Leonard that he sat in a defensive shell...and he still got dropped once that fight.
Duran only had success because leonard wanted to stand n trade

You just got me thinking....if you called someone a "big priick" would it be greater insult than calling them a "little priick", about the same, or a compliment?

I can't see anyone beating SRL today 147-155 Caneloweight.

Floyd might have beat him. But then I'm thinking about the younger, lighter Floyd who still pushed on offense. Sugar Ray Leonard was a considerably bigger guy. Maybe too big at welter for Floyd. Even so, to me it's not a given that Leonard wins.

Golovkin at 160? Presumably Leonard would not get the same freebies from the judges and announcers that he got against Hagler. I mean, before the fight, some people thought Sugar Ray was going to get killed in there. So when he was able to survive, everyone was all a tittle over it. Moral victory right there.

Today's Golovkin would beat the Leonard we saw against Hagler. Possibly by decision.

Floyd, although a small welter with limited power is more skilled than SRL and better defensively. FMJ could win a decision against SRL.

Oscar will give a good fight, but will never at welter against SRL.

I think duran prepared mentally and physically to come up with a performance he could never duplicate latter. Duran dictated the terms of the first fight because he was physically capable and talented enough. Ray fought to survive early after being hurt and fought courageously. In my view both men's legacies improved from that fight despite the loss on ray's record.
