He's consistently forgotten about when it comes to greatest Mexicans ever and greatest southpaws, his featherweight achievements are usually under rated, it feels to me that people see his name and don't know much about him at all.
      Under rated.

        Under rated.
When you say people do you mean people who don't know boxing? Because people who do constantly rate him where he should be

Good calls on ortiz and johnson,,, especially ortiz,, for all his accomplishments, you think he would be ranked alongside guys like duran, pep, chavez, hearns but you hardly ever see him on a top 25 list unless it's strictly lightweight

Carnero is proof that the stereotypical response from many posters assuming big men in days gone by were all oafs is a stereotype. Also Spinks is indeed a great choice for those underrated.

Michael Moore was another light heavy who was very good when he took his training seriously.

It stands to reason that every fighter is either overrated or underrated, and the exact place of none is known. For indeed there is an actual and true answer to mythical matchups and ATG questions which is correct, all others being incorrect. One of us might have the right answer, but can never know for sure that we do.

A good deal depends on the opposition a fighter faced and beat. Many questions seems to arise because of the opposition. In some cases where it is almost universally acknowledged that a fighter faced and beat a stellar cast, such as Ali and Hagler did, those fighters stick to the top better.

Where the fighter did not face a stellar cast, such as Monzon, doubt can and should rightfully creep in as to their H2H AT stature. There are those, such as myself, who rely heavily on opposition faced and beat in their primes, but there are many metrics that people use and weight differently to shape their opinions.

This is one guy from the old days who actually looks MORE impressive when you see him on Film. People try to pass him off as a false circus freak but when you see how fluidly he glides at 6'6 260, and how he physically knocked Sharkey airborne off an uppercut, you realize he couldve been champ in any era.

Klitschko before Klitschko pre steroid era
Carnera is a good shout. For his size he moved decently, had some good punch variety, good jab and a nasty uppercut. Carnera being toppled by Baer and Louis also serves to prove that a more skilled smaller man will beat the less skilled big man.

The name, Primo Carnera and the sport of professional boxing, should never be mentioned in the same sentence.. The ambling alp spent most of his ill-fated career depriving a lovely little Italian village of it's lumbering idiot.....

Underrated!......More like, under the mob....Sad laughable character imo
