My profile pic provides the answer as well. And it was because he wasn't as physically gifted as other champions, but worked extremely hard and fought hard to become the best of his era. I also liked his workmanlike blue collar demeanor as a fighter, although he was a fairly wealthy man later in his career and after retirement, being paid cash for speaking engagements and appearances, even doing some loan sharking.

If I have to choose one name it's Muhammad Ali. He revolutionized so many things we see in boxing today. The entertaining press conferences, interviews, talking to and taunting his opponents and a lot more. I also believe he is the number 1 all time heavyweight.

Les Darcy, goes without saying, he was a boxing freak,but there is one other bloke, my grandfather Fred, he had one pro fight, lost on points in a close fight, he is in BoxRec, had to quit because my Nan Hazel told him she wasn't going to marry a prizefighter, he decided to do as she asked and no wonder, Hazel back in her day was a very beautiful woman and very strong willed.
