You dolt. You use the Trinidad fight for proof to back up your ignorant post saying Whitaker didn't have what it takes to beat good opposition. Never mind that Whitaker was two weight classes over and years past his prime. Throw in that Trinidad was one hell of a fighter in his own right and the fight was still competitive. As a matter of fact many people believe that fight was Whitakers first real loss.

You obviously don't know how a fight is scored in professional boxing, so let me educate you.

Effective Aggression – Being aggressive gives the impression of dominance, but unless the boxer is landing shots and not constantly getting countered, it’s not exactly “effective.” Judges look for effective aggression, where the aggressor consistently lands his punches and avoids those from his opponent.
Ring Generalship – The fighter who controls the action and enforces his will and style.
Defense – How well is a boxer slipping, parrying, and blocking punches? Good defense is important.
Hard and Clean Punches – To the untrained eye, it can appear as if a boxer is landing a lot of shots, when, in fact, most are being blocked or aren’t landing flush. A judge needs to look for hard shots that land clean.

Using these simple guidelines, it's easy to see why Whitaker was great. Thanks for playing though!!

Defence is purely for protection. Not winning

The Whitaker/De La Hoya fight is actually the perfect example.
Whitaker simply did not throw enough. If he did he would have got hit more himself and he knows it.

That was the ODH fight and it was still close. Why not talk about the Chavez fight, either Jose Luis Ramirez fight, McGirt or a host of others since you want to pick and choose?

I'm assuming you're talking about the Jackie Graves fight and the myth perpetuated by Bert Sugar? Most educated boxing fans know that was debunked long ago. Haven't watched the fight in years.
