The prime Walker Smith Jr may well have been 147 but a prime Mayweather Jr was 135.

At welterweight Floyd wouldn't of had enough to keep the 5'11" Sugar off of him. I would say that the stoppage comes late due to Floyd brilliant chin and ATG defense and movement.

Prime Roy Jones Jr Vs. Robinson is a better match up. Mayweather Jr would be just too small for Ray!

That may well have been the case but my point is i'm not buying that weight excuse as the main reason the fight didn't happen.

In any case these were not good fights for Floyd to take... I used to laugh at people who demanded Floyd fight Margarito...and there were more than a few.

This post I made was not clearly stated...I also used a bad example with Robinson and Burley that Lefty called me on.
I like your idea and I love patina of invincibility. MW never wanted to take men on at their popular peaks when the populace considered them monsters, whether they were or not in the long run. On his run up the ladder and on top of it he is a cherrypicker because that is the definition by logic. No one was interested in a fight with the Frankensteinish Baldomir.

He has made money and been very successful , but has not been a great champion, not the provider of great championship fights or the kind of champion I want to see who seeks challenges. He could not help but stand higher in the AT ratings if he had taken on Margie-rito when he was considered a real toy Hercules. Of course he had money reasons every time, the case can be made, but that is beside the point of what I hope to see from great champions.

I look at Robinson as a contrast to Jones and Mayweather. There are some excellent boxing people who will tell one that Robinson actually hated to fight ( I think Joe Rein quoted a pundit on this accord)....Yet, Robinson fought constantly! and he fought the best. He fought the guys as Ray says, who would put butts in seats.

mayweather and Jones both fought less....period. This is a point that is not debatable and I don't want to speculate on why so much because at the end of the day as the kids say today "it is what it is." I doubt that if mayweather had fought the margaritos, Williams, and others on a schedule similar to Robinson, we would not see some more weaknesses arise, some cracks...even though he would win against many of these guys (as oseph rightly states). This point goes double especially when jumping divisions! With Jones....well Jones really stopped fighting comp in the later part of his career, for whatever reasons. Maybe it just didn;t exist...but I refuse to see the Tarver fight as Jones getting old. What happened on that day is a guy like Margarito, a guy who Jones should have put away, found a ***** in the armor of Roy!

I agree with you because you can't compare. Robinson would have had to take those fights...the Margaritos, the williams and others. Nobody really found a ***** in his armor. that makes him one of a few.

Rhonda Rousey whips them both on the same night. Breaks both their arms.

But could she take big Vlad, or would he throw her to the tenth row?

wlad is in very real danger of being taken down where he will be very vulnerable believe it or not, on the other hand hes so physically superior rhonda might not be able to do it, despite great technique in an art designed to be used against bigger people

so at best 50 50 on whether it will stay standing or not

standing rhonda has 0 chance so its 100 to 0 for wlad

on the ground again id say its 80 - 20 (bjj is just that effective against untrained people)

                    Wlad scores = 170

                    Rhonda scores = 130

Wlad is a fair bit more likely to win

I would say Roussey has about a 5% chance. But she and Pacquiao in the ring at the same time opposing Vlad, I would give about a 50% chance. With Roussey on his back aplying a standing chokehold while Pacman punched freely, they might--I say they might get the job done, son.
