Right!! And who's choice was that? all jokes about what compelled him not to change aside.... leanard was a reactive adaptive fighter (Dwyer's phrase) meaning....he makes adjustments in the ring when he could. He couldn't in this case, cause if he coulda he woulda. Why couldn't he make those adjustments? because of the mean eyed Panamanian guy trying to hit him with everything but the kitchen sink.
Or leonard as great as he was, was slightly green in big tough fights at the time... And was too confident in his ability to take duran out and never changed the gameplan...

Leonard fought the wrong gameplan... If he was so confident in that gameplan, why did he change it in the 2nd and even 3rd fight...

I don't know why it's so hard for people to accept the fact that leonard fought ****** in the first fight and made it so much harder than it should have been..

I'm the biggest leonard fan on here, but Im not gonna act like leonard fought a smart fight

leonard fought the first fight because his opponents talent and preparation dictated the outcome leonard fought as well as he could a fighter without Leonards chin would not have made it out of the second round.

Leonard changed his gameplan during the fight. Just not in time to make up for losing the early rounds. I bet on Duran in Montreal but could see that Leonard would have his number in any rematch. So I won both bets in the first two fights. Didn't even watch the third after Duran walked out in the second.

Duran hurt Leonard with a left hook in the second and thats what changed the fight for Leonard!

The second fight was Duran not being physically ready due to Leonards management catching Duran not prepared properly which became his M.O.
from that fight on. Thats why Brown & Arcel departed, when it was time to
"feed off the top" and take the money contracts for the sake of the purse alone his team begged off. Arcel & Brown were like that, they were pro's!
Duran later picked up every penny he could at his own expense at times.
