    Muhammad Ali The non-puncher

Muhammad Ali was the first man to stop Sonny Liston, Oscar Bonavena, George Foreman and Ron Lyle. Not bad for a non-puncher

Ali was a reasonable puncher but more of the attrition type.

He had good power, he just didn't sit down on his punches often.

He also wrecked people's faces worse than just about anyone else too. Not bad for a non-puncher.

Oh but as Elroy will tell you, he was a featherfisted bum who could barely even box and would not even be allowed to box professionally today

Very true. he used speed to great effect often enough but in so doing he didn't have much concussive effect at these times.

Elroy told me that by today's standards Jack Johnson would easily be defeated as a welter weight by Andre Ward. Froch would have ruled the roost as a heavy weight back then.....

He claimed there would be "a guy or two in every bar nowadays who would sit Max Baer on his ass" the guy is completely nuts.
