Against a guy who had been on a World Tour with his Blues Band and was 20lbs overweight. Foreman's best win's were against George Chuvalo, Ken Norton & Ron Lyle. Yet those victories along with his victory over Michael Moorer for the title in 1994 at such an advanced age, entitle George Foreman to be very highly rated in historical terms. Foreman's punching power is there for all to see, he is a Top 5 biggest puncher in heavyweight history.
Good post. I don't generally like to rank fighters for reasons like this....there are always caveats and its good to look at the information and not an appeal to some consensus.

Boxing saved Golata from the life of a serial killer. What is he doing in retirement?

Golota certainly had talent. But it's difficult to judge precisely how much because Bowe's defence (or lack thereof) had the effect of making any opponent look like Ali in his prime.

At times he couldn't be easier to hit if someone sawed off his head and mounted it on a stick in the centre of the ring.

That said, it sure did make for a spectacular fight.

Golota was a very skilled fighter who beat the piss out of Bowe 2x when he was widely considered to be the #1 HW in the world. He had a great jab, probably the best in boxing at a time before he wrecked his shoulder in a car accident. Very good all round boxing skills, good not great power and some of the best head movement I've seen for a big man. The major flaws he had that railroaded any potential longterm success was a dodgy chin and mental instability. Had he had his head on straight or got a fair decision he should have had wins over Bowe 2x,Grant, Byrd and Ruiz.

i disagree.. Rid**** Bowe took tremendous amount of punishment in his 3 fights with Holyfield. No-one knew what the damage was until we seen him in the Golota fight. it was shocking to see the decline in him, Eddie Futch had left, his speech was slurred, his physical condition looked terrible. Andrew Golota was in a similar position to what Trevor Berbick was in against Muhammad Ali, but Golota being the limited fighter that he is, could not even beat a shell of Rid**** Bowe. Golota had to "FOUL" and foul so blatantly, that he was disqualified from both fights. Never ever in the history of boxing, has fouling been so blatant and so often in a premier-level fight. Golota should have been "thrown out of the sport for life".. To try to glorify his abilities in those fights is wrong, they should be denounced.`Golota was a disgrace and the Bowe bouts were not the first time or the last time, he committed such disgraceful fouls... No matter how one looks at thos two fights against Bowe, Golota was very fortunate to be able to "Deliberately Foul" to avoid being knock out. Rid**** Bowe even at the tail-end of his career, was on the verge of knocking out Golota in both fights. Golota never beat a single fighter who was rated in the Top 50 in his career, which puts into perspective how limited he actually was.

This is more delusion...had Golota not fouled he easily wins....you seem to want bowe to be held at a higher standard simply b/c he beat Holyfield twice.

Why would i want that?.. the only reason Golota fouled was to avoid being KOd.. no other reason did he commit those fouls. now i suggest you go and view those fights again, because the referee was on the verge of stopping the fight in favor of Bowe each time he fouled. Golota was so badly beaten-up in their second bout, that he had a cut above his chin which his teeth could be seen through. His eye was cut above and below, his head was split open and he was drenched in his own blood. To claim he was going to beat Bowe is laughable. Bowe was on the verge of knocking out Golota, when Golota fouled his way out rather than be carried out.

Golota was winning what are you talking about?Holyfield has one win over Bowe so if Golota doesn't have a legit win over Bowe,it still puts holyfield over Golota that's what you want, you big Holyfield up because Golota actually beat Bowe ...Holyfield failed to twice, even he himself admits he couldn't do what Golota did.You are the biggest delusional guy on this site next to corso!

What i enjoy about you is, how you are in constant contact with almost every fighter in history. You must sit up all night on your telephone talking to all these great boxers from history. This is very good of you, because you then come onto this forum and tell us members what all the boxers have told you. Can i ask you what else Holyfield told you in your conversation with him?.. Did he mention anything about his fight with Nikolay Valuev ???... Did George Foreman mention anything about his fight with Alex Stewart when you were chatting with him???... What about Mike Tyson, how is he doing of late??

To be honest, I don't think Golota was thinking much further forward than right then. I certainly don't think he was worried that he might be starched. If you watch him carefully Golota hits Bowe low after periods when he's been in the ascendancy and yet Bowe not only refuses to go away - he actually rallies and inexplicably (in the mind of Golota) begins to hurt Golota.

It's the classic response of a petulant bully lashing out at a force that refuses to submit to his will.
