  • corrie sanders is a very underated puncher. that guy had insane speed and snap in his punches for such an ugly looking athlete. his power was amazing.

and foreman's ***** slaps could knock most heavyweights out, he's the epitome of the "heavy-handed" fighter: a guy who can use very little leverage and disregard the mechanics of throwing a proper power punch and still flatten walls.

anyone whos seen shavers punch say he hit hardest
shavers had much more mass behind his punches than tyson . but tyson had much more speed . power = mass * velocity. that is a scientific formula . people say speed doesent equal power but it does . If it didnt then how come a truck hitting a wall at 100 mph does more damage than a truck hitting a wall at 50 mph . tyson punches were like being hit by a baseball bat at 100 mph , shavers were like being hit by a jack hammer at 30 mph . they both had different types of power so its impossible to compare . The only way to know for sure who hit harder would of being to do a scientific test on their power when they were both in their prime . i still think tyson hit harder because allthough he didnt have anyway near the mass in his punches , the speed of his punches were lightyears quicker than shavers .

      • Doesn't which era you come from help to decide which fighter hits harder? frank bruno could hit hard as hell but not when it counted. so that doesnt count then lol

        • Stats will say Klit and Foreman were, but I have to say Tyson. He made guys head spin...crushing.

            • Klitschko had a high KO percentage, but he really didn't have many fights, good ones particularly lacking. Even so, a man with that much leverage, who is almost always punching down at his opponents, must have serious power.

Earnie Shavers may have had the most raw, natural power. Even when almost completely winded in the 15th round against Ali, he almost put him out.

George Foreman was simply brutal. Even with long, wild swings he'd stop tough opponents in mid stride.

Tyson had power, perhaps not as much as the previous two characters, but he had a lot of speed, different angles, combinations, and more accuracy.

Different types of power. Many different answers.

Yeah I think that among all the well school boxing fans Shavers is #1, Muhammad Ali said without hesitation it was Shavers and that Earnie hit him so hard, "It shook my kinfold back in Africa!". Larry Holmes said he thought a bolt of lightning hit him when Shavers landed the right and later after the fight was over was asking the interviewers why people were taking his picture with flash photography in a place where it was not allowed

Earnie hit Bernardo Macado so hard his glove exploded, hit Randy tex cobb with a right hand to the neck and snapped his ankle, hit a 150lbs heavybag so hard the back of it exploded, and ripped one man's eyelid open with a glancing blow (The bout was stopped for fear of the man's eye coming out!)
Ali even went so far as to say Shavers hit ALOT harder than Foreman did...

Seems to me that the only man in history to compare with Shavers (And many of the boxing scribes agree with me!) is Max Baer, killed multiple people in the ring, some say it was 4 unofficially!

Lol I remember seeing a article Ring Magazine did on the top 100 hardest hitters in heavy history...they did it not me :P Don't know who was 2-4th...

Liston was like 5th, Foreman 6th

                      Cooney was 24th(Bull****)

                      Max baer was 14th(Bigger bull****)

Tyson was in the mid 70s(He really didn't have power that was that impressive, but damn it cracked when he hit the bag, and he hit it 5x in one second!)

                      Shavers was of course 1st

                      Forgot where Frazier was

Joe louis was 10th or so, Schmeling was above him(Max Baer said Schmeling hit harder!)

                      Ron Lyle was 20s-30s

and the list goes on and on...I can't remember where I saw it though
