You do realize we will never know for sure who hit the hardest
It's not that we don't know, it's the fact that some people don't like to accept that someone like Shavers or Foreman or Cooney hit the hardest because they are a huge Tyson fan or a huge fan of another fighter who they believe to be the hardest puncher. They choose to believe the oppinions of some fighters and not of others.
So thats why this thread won't be resolved because no one is willing to change their oppinion.
foreman and shavers are the hardest, shannon briggs said he never been hit as hard as when foreman hit him and foreman was in his mid 40s and everybody who fought both shavers and foreman said shavers hit harder , he was knocking out guys till he was 50
In an interview conducted by John Gibson, The Evening Chronicle, Gibson get a rare site down with Evander Holyfield and discusses who hit the hardest out of the fighters he had faced.
Gibson asked: So who was the hardest puncher? And who was the toughest all-round opponent?
Holyfield responded with: "The hardest puncher was undoubtedly Foreman. He was my first title defence and was 42 years old but went the full distance. I won a unanimous decision and he was reeling at times but I remember him hitting me once flush on and my teeth rattled. George had fought the best in his time and was a dynamic puncher who had 64 knock-outs in his 69 victories. I realised he could still take out an opponent with one shot and had to watch him.
In regards to his toughest foe, Holyfield had this to say: "As for my toughest opponent, I'd have to go for Bowe. He had so much God-given talent, but he was lazy in the gym. However, I fought him three times in epic fights and he was never out of condition when he faced me. Perhaps that was a compliment, he knew I was tough. He'd been my sparring partner!"
