I understand what you are trying to say I just do not think it is relevant. If we have a discussion about a fighter, lets say Roy Jones, and say that at a particular weight HE FOUGHT AT, he is unbeatable...nobody would preface that with "well but he is not this size naturally." Nobody considers that. When a fighter makes the weight and fights at that weight they made the weight.

Add to that fact that we are talking about nebulous divisions that almost function like generic catchweights....well all cruisers and lite heavies who are good would attack the heavyweight division if given a chance. Again, look at the champs at these weight classes, unless the heavyweight division was really stacked and the champ at light heavy/cruiser was not that strong, the individual fighter will fight for the heavyweight crown.

So to say that Moorer being naturally big makes him less of a fighter in this class, or to say that he fought minimally (not true actually) means very little when evaluating his talent fighting at that weight against the likes of Hiolyfield, Spinks, etc....at cruiser or light heavy. All it means is that he was at the time a big cruiser/lite heavy. YOu have to remember that ALL these guys fought heavy eventually anyway.

moorer was most definitely a beast at light heavy. I think he would have matched up well with any of the lightheavy weight greats such as foster or spinks despite his somewhat weak resume

Moorer turned out to be a pretty good boxer considering the puncher he was.

Just how good was he?

He had his debut in March '88 and by late '88 he fought for a version of the title (Inaugural WBO title). He knocked all of his opponents out at LHW under the tutelage of Manny Steward.

I thought he looked awesome at LHW, albeit against limited opposition.

How would he have fared against Virgil Hill in the late 80s early 90s?

What's your thoughts on his LHW career?

I made a thread about this years back and I think he was very good at the weight, strong, big and powerful, I think he'd have beaten the mid-90s version of Hill, probably stopped him and he would have had a chance to hurt RJJ bad too.
