      Heard he also invested in some businesses with friends when he retired and did speaking engagements.

        Reminds me of Rod Serling, heard stories of his wife finding hidden cigarettes long after his death.

              A lot of the old timers in the early 1900's-1940's were lumberjacks, miners, etc doing anything they could to make money and stay fit. If they weren't holding a title a majority didn't make the big money and had no reliable source of income. Guess not much has changed really.
