  • Boxers With Two Professions, Or Sports?

Jim Jeffries was a Boilermaker, Bob Fitzsimmons was a Blacksmith.. In later years, both Paul Pender and Terry Marsh were firefighters.
Bob Foster doubled up as the local Sheriff, and more recently, we've seen Vitali juggle two careers, before eventually opting for Politics over Boxing.

Regarding other sports, the Mundine's did Rugby, Corrie Sanders did golf, and there's a guy in the UK named Curtis Woodhouse, who went from football to Boxing.

I know there's an abundance of fighters who didn't just fight, so who were they, and what else was it they did?

Jose Torres did a number of things, mainly around boxing but he is noteworthy for his writing of books and articles.

Sugar Ray Robinson became a tap-dancer in his first retirement.

Panama Al Brown was also a tap-dancer.

'Joe Frazier And The Knockouts' funking it up, or maybe that is a misspelling.

Carlos Ortiz drove a taxi in NYC.

    Ken Buchanan was a carpenter.

I think Jim Watt had a car dealership before going into broadcasting.

Jiro Watanabe is thought to be in the Yakuza.

All Brits but some interesting professions.....

Gary Stretch (we've been here before) was a model, fairly well-paid as well.

Dave McAuley was a chef; apparently very good and talented.

Chris Eubank was a professionally quailfied business secretary, not sure whether he ever used it though. 'Please take a note Miss Eubank and pop out at lunch to get some flowers for my wife' just does not sound right or a good way to keep your teeth...does it?

Going way back there was a useful middlewight guy called Brian Andersen who was a prison officer. Got flattened by Pyatt and Sibson.

But my favourite was Andy Till 'The Fighting Milkman.'

I remember Andy Till, the milkman from Northolt, was British ltmwt champion not long after Stretch.. He was like a street fighter in the ring, and a well known hard case out of it..

Jim McDonnell too, doubled up as a caretaker (janitor) for his local council

Eubank lol, went on to lose plenty of money in bad business deals, so I doubt he used, or even remembered too much of what he learned..

Tony Thornton, didn't he fight some big names? I remember hearing about Frazier being a farmer in his youth.

He was a regular on tv here. Appeared to be very likable guy.
