    Boxing's 10 Dirtiest Scandals

The subject might have been posted before, but I found this link quite amusing.
No news for old-timers, I guess, but to pick the worst scandal in boxing history is worth a thought.

Don King for sure. It would take some time just to limit it to his own top 10 scandals. The other choices are mostly single events. And Ali-Liston II should have been on that list, because fair or not, it caused a scandal.

"The Combination" - Frankie Carbo, Blinky Palermo et al. - come in mind too.

Rarely can there be a discussion on scandals without talking about Don King, there was a time were King had the sanctioning bodies in his pocket. Judges as well. A fighter would sign with King and suddenly enter the rankings, fighters would sign with other promoters and suddenly be dropped from the rankings. King has had more controversial decisions go to his fighters than all the other promoters in history combined.

          True.
But, with or without King, I don't think our dear sanctioning bodies have changed their ethical standards at all, so I put them on the list too

That is true. Even without King the sanctioning bodies went on doing the same thing.

The Ali-Liston II is interesting with all its speculations afterwards.
I choose to believe in Liston’s wife: Sonny was in shape for their scheduled autumn meeting in 1964, which was postponed. And not so fit when the fight actually went on. According to her, Sonny quickly realized he wouldn’t have a chance that night and decided to take a dive.

Hard for me to believe that he suddenly drew that conclusion quite that quickly. But its not like I have the definitive answer either.

It's said Liston was in a depressed mood at the time, so he might have lost the fight already at the stare out.

                  By the way:

Did have a laugh at that

Wow, looks like another great article, will read the rest later. It's not letting me give you green k for some reason though. Speaking or Resto-Collins, Assault in the Ring is a great documentary about that fight and how it changed the lives of both fighters and shows what a complete lowlife lying sack of crap Panama Lewis is and why he's not allowed to work the corner during fights anymore.
